Christians claim persecution, again

Nothing makes me more sick than their ridiculous speeches. Swaying the ignorant masses with the excuse of religion to gain favor. Absolutely idiotic that this type of stuff still goes on unnoticed today.

My pastor has some really interesing thoughts on these guys as well as a government that is Christian based. Basically, he is saying that the doesn't want a Christian Based government not to protect government but to protect religion.

Also, Dobson so narrowly defines "faith" these days and really does harm to religion.

I have always diskliked Dobson. When I was young my mom used to listen to him quite a bit and I always thought "what an idiot".

(p.s. to the usual suspects. save the "YoUr teH hate ChrIStians!!!" bullcrap. I hate theocracies)

Only 5% of the nominees are being blocked, yet their still whining about it. It's a shame that Democrats want judges that are at least more fair and balanced  I don't have anything against the Republican party, but these guys need to get off the baby bottle, stop bitching, and grow up.

Whatever happened to picking a judicial nominee who would have enough bipartisan support (60 votes) to avoid a filibuster? If Bush would stop nominating just his far right friends, maybe some would actually get into office.

The best part is how he found extremist minority judges so he could say "the Democrats won't vote on him/her because they don't like minorities"

Seeing as how it's only 10 out of 205 that are being filibustered, I'd say a good number are getting in.
Seriously, this latest tactic by conservative christian Republicans is tantamount to a 3 year-old rolling on the floor and throwing a tantrum when he doesn't get his way. The fact that Christians are claiming persecution under America's New Moral Order government is so hypocritical it's hilarious.

Christians haven't been persecuted since the time of the Roman Ceasars.

On the other hand, Christians have persecuted other people in history: The Crusades, The Inquisition, the Pope turning a blind eye on the Nazis, etc. etc.

'Persecution' is a word that is being stretched out so that it doesnt resemble what originally means.

But...but...but...they can't have the 10 Commandments in every courtroom. They can't withhold sex ed and contraception and then force you to have a baby you don't want. They can't force you to go to their church. They only control two branches of government (and most of the Judicial). They still can't shove all the gay people back in the closet. All that persecution...

We need more lions.

The problem is that the Christian religion is more-or-less founded on the principle of being persecuted. As a kid, I spent a whole lot of time in church (in quite a few different churches), the the subject of persecution came up at least every other Sunday. Christianity has a theme rather along the lines of "if you're a good Christian, you're going to get persecuted for it", which directly leads to "if you're not being persecuted, you're not a good Christian." I think a lot of Christians do things with the specific intent of being persecuted for them, not necessarily consiously, but I think the motive is there in some form quite often. You do something outrageous in the name of your faith, you get criticized for it - voila, you're a good Christian and you're guaranteed a place in heaven.

Are you sure you're not thinking Jews?

The only reason I can think of to persecute a 'good Christian' is because all of them I've met are pretentious, self absorbed, delusional, overbearing mysoganistic pains in the ass.

Judaism has somewhat are a martyr complex too, but I definitely think its stronger in Christianity. Christianity inherited it from Judaism, then combined it with Jesus being crucified and added in the persecution they suffered the first century or so. Its kind of like someone who suffered a horrible trauma as a kid and never fully recovers from it.

Seeing your parents having sex can do that to a kid...
This is why I say we start a new Crusades, but this time, let's kill the Christians!! Turnabout is fairplay, right?
If someone is proclaiming themselves as a "good Christian" then yes they probably aren't.

Also, Christianity isn't really centered/based on persecution. Rather, it is based on suffering/servitude. Whether or not a Christian actually follows that is a different matter.

As being one of the "persecuted" people (I'm Jewish), I really dont give a crap about Christians complaining, cause it suck to be the majority. It sucks to not have 6 million of your people killed. It suck to have people to not have Swastikas put on your property. It sucks to control the political system of the US. I am crying a river for their suffering.
