Guilty Gear isn't really clearenced. It's listed as $12.99 in store. The $9.99 price was just a one week sale.
do you know how much this one was new retail? I doubt it was $12.99

Guilty Gear was never $12.96 retail...only thing is....CC received it as new stock for $12.96

I think it definitely helps PSP sales to have unique games at low prices...one can go into CC right now and buy a puzzle, a fighter, and a racer, all at around $10 brand new....don't see why the DS lite is beating it so badly.
Because DS's puzzles, fighters, and racers beat PSP's by a mile? ;)

Thanks OP.
I seriously don't think DS has an answer to Lumines, Guilty Gear, and Wipeout.

It might not be much of a deal.. but Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones(Xbox) is clearanced to 16.96, and other versions of it might be clearanced as well.
I seriously don't think DS has an answer to Lumines, Guilty Gear, and Wipeout.
It doesn't. That's just fanboy talk.

I own both and much prefer my PSP. The one thing I'll give the DS is that it has a decent RPG lineup, where as the PSP's RPG lineup is less than stellar.
Because DS's puzzles, fighters, and racers beat PSP's by a mile? ;)

Well, take out fighters and racers and ignore the fact that PSP has Lumines and your post would be correct. I mean, I know it's opinoin, but... still....

DS has no good fighters in America. PSP has Street Fighter Alpha 3, Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear, Tekken, probably some more I can't think of right now.

And while DS has Mario Kart, and, if you like it, Diddy Kong Racing, the PSP has a lot more to offer, like Wipeout, Ridge Racer, Burnout, and Race Driver.

Anyway, PSP doesn't have Elite Beat Agents or Ouendan. So that helps DS.

Agree with all your post except this..

The PSP has DJ Max Pro and Parappa!

I do have to hand it over to the PSP for rhythm games, since it uses a disk format it can hold more songs, although I love the rhythm games on the DS as well.

The reason why people prefer the DS is simple, it has more "pick up and play for 15 minutes and put away" games. Nintendogs, Brain Age, etc. It's what consumers, and myself, want more than epic GTA style games that you have to play for an hour or two at a time.

Plus, DS has Mario and friends, Castlevania, Kirby, Pokemon, etc. All the great games we've grown to love over the years, even the ones that have went downhill and have started to suck, all come back to life with great games on the DS.

While the PSP is a decent system, but it's for "hardcore" gamers, the kind of people who play for hours at a time and prefer their games on the "mature" side. The DS is for casual gamers, parents, grandparents, kids...people with jobs...people who think games are great but realize they don't have all day to play them.

The DS and the PSP are both great systems, just depends on what kind of gamer you are, and nowadays there are far FAR more casual gamers rather than hardcore gamers. That's why the DS is outselling the PSP, not to mention the touchscreen kicks 100 kinds of ass. :p

I haven't played Disgaea 1, but for $17 I may be interested in picking 2 up. Would I be missing out on anything having never played the first one?
I haven't played Disgaea 1, but for $17 I may be interested in picking 2 up. Would I be missing out on anything having never played the first one?
not really, the first game is recapped a bit, but not vital to the story

I've had no luck with Disgaea 2 so far, and while I saw a copy of God Hand the other day, I didn't know it was clearanced. If it's still there on Sunday, I might pick it up.

Also didn't know Bubble Bobble Revolution was clearanced, though I think I might have seen it cheaper than $17 elsewhere.
Also didn't know Bubble Bobble Revolution was clearanced, though I think I might have seen it cheaper than $17 elsewhere.
Bubble Bobble was actually part of the older March CC clearance (along with Contact, Phoenix Wright, RocketSlime, etc) and was eligible for that 25%-off Cool Deals sale - $12.72 was its lowest at CC.

edit: It's also $10 at Kmart.

Damn, didn't know that. I definitely would have picked it up for $12. And the Kmart route won't work, since they closed down all the ones here in town years ago.

No big rush though. Since Gamestop is already selling Rainbow Islands Revolution (which is made by the same people and came out at almost the same time) for $10, I wouldn't be surprised if this game hits that price there as well.

Even at $10, it's still not worth getting any version that features a glitch preventing you from getting past a certain level.
Even at $10, it's still not worth getting any version that features a glitch preventing you from getting past a certain level.
Haven't they fixed that by now though? Even if a defective version is still on shelves, I assume you can still just send it back to them and get a working copy.

Yeah, you send it back in to the manufacturer and they send you a fixed version of Bubble Bobble along with a free copy of Rainbow Islands.

from what i remember, someone posted here on cag how they sent their game in and received a fixed version along with an additional game(forgot the name of it) for free.

edit: parker beat me to it ;)
Yeah, you send it back in to the manufacturer and they send you a fixed version of Bubble Bobble along with a free copy of Rainbow Islands.
I didn't get the free Rainbow Islands with mine. :( Man I wanted that game too!

oh man i've been looking for ninja gaiden black under $20 for the longest time.. now i gotta see if my cc has any copies

to recap from the other thread, space channel 5 is $2.96. i picked it up last night, figure i can't go wrong with a 3$ game.

You could've when people picked it up at $2.22 a few weeks back...;)

Also, the PS2 version isn't as good as the Dreamcast versions...:hot:

Totally agree here. I have the DC version of SC1 and the Japanese import of SC2 (with all the free bells and whistles) and let me say that graphically (and audio-too), the DC versions are far superior.

Now, since most won't t find DC versions (or be willing to pay the prices -- esp. for SC2), the PS2 set is the next best alternative ...

I can't get into DS lacking in RPGs..used to have one at least Castlevania COD for 16.96? wasn't it on sale like a year ago for 9.99?
I seriously don't think DS has an answer to Lumines, Guilty Gear, and Wipeout.
Meteos beats Lumines by a mile.

Better system, with more more good games? Excellent battery life and portability?

PSP's a decent system, problem is, DS is a fan-fucking-tastic system.
Is Amped 3 worth it?
It's worth it for the cracked out story mode alone.
Meteos beats Lumines by a mile.
I disagree, I found Lumines to be the far more enjoyable game. Excellent music, excellent pacing, where as Metoes had a generic SSBM-like soundtrack, way too short of games, and it's biggest downfall? Randomly scratching the screen snubs out all other strategies. Not to say Meteos was a bad game or anything, but up against Lumines it just can't compete.
Even at $10, it's still not worth getting any version that features a glitch preventing you from getting past a certain level.
which game are you talking about again?

PS2 gaming updates - Went by the store in Milford, Ct - saw a couple of Disgaea 2s but I'm not interested in the game. Did pick up Wild Arms 3 for 12.99, Batman Begins for 8.96 and Hitman Blood Money for 16.96. These were the only copies I saw so I snatched them. Did see one Tales of Legendia in the bin there but since I already have it, I left it there.

Also stopped by the one in Trumbull - saw the following in stock all marked at their normal prices, which is usual as they ring up at the clearance prices:

2 or 3 Disgaea 2
1 Grandia 3
3 Xenosaga Ep 3
2 God Hand

Also saw 2 Star Ocean Til The End of Times - not sure if these are on clearance but thought if anyone was interested, they do have them in stock.
Has anyone been able to find disgaea 2 lately? I didn't seen it at the circuit city I went to earlier today.
Probably because a lot of people picked it up when they saw it posted in the March clearance thread. Too bad that thread wasn't split up, instead of lasting so long, or other people might've known about these clearances earlier.

Just a heads up, even if you checked your CC a week or so ago when Disgaea 2 first went to $16.96 you might want to check 'em again. I went the day after they lowered the price to a local CC and they had nothing on the shelves/ nothing in the bin. Today another local CAG dropped by the same CC and they had 6 copies in the clearance bin. He snagged one for me and left the other five.
Has anyone been able to find disgaea 2 lately? I didn't seen it at the circuit city I went to earlier today.
Most people in the other thread reported only seeing 1 or 2 copies. Some of them were unlucky and didn't see any copies at all. So yeah, it seems to be a little difficult to find.
which game are you talking about again?
Bubble Bobble DS. As already discussed, you can send the defective game back to the maker and get a replacement.

I picked up the last PoR at my CC and C&C Generals Deluxe was marked as $7.99. It rang up as $19.99 but it was PMed, no questions asked.

I'm happy... this is probably the first time I bought a game in a B&M store in months.

I'll have to see if a Circuit City by me has a copy of Amped 3. The last time they were supposed to have it marked down, it was nowhere to be found.

That Disgaea 2 restock is apparently YMMV cause I found none today. They did have a few copies of Castlevania Portrait of Ruin left which I didn't see last week. It was at the Denver Stapleton area CC.

Most CC's only stocked 1 Disgaea 2, 2 at the most, and some of them didn't even stock any... consider yourself lucky to even see a Disgaea 2 at all.

Also, this clearance has been going on for almost two weeks on these.

I think I'll get God Hand for $16.96 if I happen to come across it, though.

OP, do you think you can link to the old March clearance thread, or at least add sections to the OP, such as May, and then the list of games at the top, and maybe March under it? Because March's clearance games are just as relevant as May's, and some people might not know that, say, Grandia 3 is clearanced. Also, Guilty Gear for PSP isn't $16.96, so maybe make a note of that?

Just like people didn't know Ninja Gaiden Black is clearanced (which is actually an older clearance game).

And to all the people on the first page, how about we stop with the DS / PSP bullshit? This is a sale for clearance sales, prices, and games, *not* another pointless flame war where you post nothing at all that contributes to the deals at hand. Take it somewhere else.

I agree with Roufuss, stop the DS/PSP fighting. It's all about the Virtual Boy/N-Gage/Game.com debate guys.

Also got the last Portrait of Ruin at my CC. Thanks for the heads up.
