Civ 4 will feature religious gameplay
"Through our tests, it was determined that the optimal number of religions for gameplay purposes was seven (a number that seems to come up quite often when designing versions of Civilization). We then set about making a list of seven important and recognizable religions. After a lot of deliberation and more testing, we narrowed the list down to these: Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Taoism."

Of course we all know which religion is going to win and which religion is going to get persecuted into extinction when liberals play.

I just wonder if the game will be accurate and feature suicide bombers and the clerics who denounce them openly, but are really helping them??
What about atheism?

Hasn't the Civilization games always featured religion? Did you have some sort of point, or were you merely going to use a game feature as an introduction so you could engage in some sort of idiotic bashing of liberals?

Of course we all know which religion is going to win and which religion is going to get persecuted into extinction when liberals play.
Ah, ok.

Actually, you get to do that yourself. Send spys in to wreak havoc in enemy cities, then claim that you had nothing to do with it in the diplomacy part of the game. Again, another game feature of Civilization that's pretty much always been there.

Historically speaking, Paganism would have been a much better choice then Judaism. Think about Ancient Greek/Roman times, back then Hellenic Paganism had a much wider following then Judaism has ever had in any period of time.

In fact, Judaism isn't that big a religion even nowadays.

Bah, I'm going to go back to Zeus ;)

You know scrubby? The funny thing is, I had heard about this, and I thought "COOL! The whole world can become Hindu! So... with that being the religion i choose, there's still Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Islam, Judaism, and Taoism left to be persecuted and driven into the ground. Which one were you thinking of?

:dunce:

I'm surprised that as in depth as Civ goes that they wouldn't consider a system where some of the religions evolve.

I wouldn't find any fun in controlling white chubby chicks and commanding them to recycle, but to each their own.
This joke is not funny.

Carry on.
You're never funny. Especially when you try to make pointless jabs just because you have some fucked-up grudge against me.

Carry on.

I found this tremendously amusing.

What makes a religion legitimate? Discuss.

You're talking about SUV-driving christian soccer moms, right?

Off topic, but the other day I saw a big ass SUV with a green party bumper sticker

Not exactly, IIRC you could discover religions, but there was no system for it spreading amongst your people or neighboring towns and nothing in the game really associated with religions very extensively (though it should probably be noted I I never played that much of civ III).

Don't you mean "intelligently design"?

In the original Civ, I remember Monotheism being one of the best advances that your civilization could get since it lead to J.S. Bach's cathedral and Michaelango's Chapel. If you had those, you could keep your people "happy".

In Civ 2, fundamentalism was now a government where you could now build fanatics.

Never played Civ 3, either, so I can't commment on that. However, religion's always been included in the civ games, though not as expansive as the new one coming out.

That is a joke, right? You aren't using a computer game as a way to make a wild leap to accuse liberals of being bigots, I hope?
lets hope shinto is accurately represented
I don't know whether to think this is a joke or not.

I seem to remember that Shinto isn't even a fucking religion but a set of rituals or customs.

DavidK, meet Scrubking. He will be your Liberal Basher du jour.

His posts are jokes; he just doesn't intend them to be.
