Ok, so I have the chance to interview Coheed and Cambria for the student newspaper that I work for. I don't know if anyone here is a fan of them, but I was just going to ask if anyone had any questions they would like to have asked. Personally, I don't get the whole storyline thing they have going through their albums, and was going to ask about the origins of it, and why the decided to make their albums into a space epic.

Good question. The first time I heard the song, I was like this band is a band with a girl for a lead singer like No Doubt and then I see the video and its some guy. :shock:

Well, what would you reccomend then? I mean there are only so many things I can ask a band. I could ask them what their favorite food is and what they would say to jesus if they met him, but it doesn't exactly seem pertinent. I think that most interviews of these type, it is sort of assumed that nothing ground-breaking is going to be revealed, it is more for the student body who doesn't know anything than for the benefit of the band.

Believe me, it's very difficult after you come expecting something and you get something totally different.

Yeah, that's true. I'm just thinking from the band's point of view they would have more fun with something new. I guess you just can't get around asking some questions though.
 
I like listening to Favor House Atlantic when i play socom. What does good eye sniper meen. The other day i sniped a guy and that part came on. Dont like many of there songs but i do that one.
 
I am going to ask them if the Monstar that they talk about in their songs was inspired by the monstars of the hit movie, Space Jam.
 
All that falsetto reminds me of Rush's Geddy Lee ... and while I'm giving Canada the musical nod right now, as far as the whole space epic thing...Voivod has been doing it for years. So remember if you have a problem with them, blame Canada!

Well, I can't speak for that specific song, but I know the basic story of their albums is this. Coheed and Cambria are husband and wife. They tried to kill all of their kids. One survived, Claudio, because he had some special serum injected into him. Coheed became the Monstar, which is a being of immense power. Coheed, as the Monstar, alone has the power to either save or destroy the universe. Or something like that.
 
I've only just heard one of their songs, and within 10 seconds I shut it off. I couldn't stand the grating, high-pitched voice any longer.

I must admit, I too was a little turned off by the singing. But I stuck with it, and it really grew on me. Now, it's part of my rotation. Everyone should hear the songs through to the end, you're missing some awesome music.

I agree. The first time I heard Everything Evil, I absolutely hated it. My friend convinced me to give it another listen, and now I love Coheed and Cambria.

After listening to Dizzee Rascal, I don't think any voice could turn me off of a band or artist.
 
Man, these guys were my favorite band for a long time. I still listen to them a lot, though. I don't find it necessary to "get past" his singing, I think its what makes them great, instead of just good. I saw them in Houston about a year ago, and, appearently they had van trouble, so Claudio came out by himself with an acoustic guitar, and he was AMAZING. His singing is fantastic and he plays the guitar very well also...

Also, Everything Evil is hands down their best song. :)
 
ask them what it's like to go from opening up for bands like student rick two years ago to headlining their own US tour. ask them what it's like to be a "tho" and trendy band, if they sort of resent a certain amount of the attention they have garnered. also, ask the singer why he doesn't just get a haircut so he stops looking like a complete asshole.

They're not quite at the level as C & C.

I'm pretty sure that question was just answered.
 
Ask them if they will ever consider releasing the first volume of the four albums, and if so when. Since SSTB was #2 and IKSOSE was #3, etc.
