I guess it's good for lo-carb folks out there, but I honestly think they could have picked better names...
Coke's C2 sounds like it should be capable of defending justice or killing small villages of people with carbonated death rays. While Pepsi's Edge just sounds like I could shave with it, or go snow boarding with it -should I be so inclined. Oh, and if you read the article note that Coke kicked off it's C2 promo with Ryan Seacrest...which instantly qualifies it as Lord Marshal of the Suck-Ass Empire. Has anyone tried it yet?

Technically it is admiral...Im sick of this low-carb crap...all these diets do are make your body breakdown and kill your muscles for energy...and you know your heart is a muscle...does a diet that can break down the muscle cells in your heart sound like a good idea?

I work at a Gas Station/Convience Store and I noticed that we got a few Pepsi Edge 20 oz's. I havnt tried them yet, but I hate any sort of diet cola. If your trying to be healthy, you shouldnt drink soda all together.

I think that both of these options are great marketing strategies for their respective companies. The low-carb craze is going to be here for awhile, so they both might as well embrace it and look for a way to increase their market while doing so.

What with all the low carb food these days, such as in fast food and soft drinks, when you buy a pepsi or burger you must accept that your eating a delicious tender cow that was pumped with chemicals yet tastes delicious and your drinking basically sugar with sugar and artificial stuff. Why bother drinking or eating low carb it ruins the taste, if I pay for it I want all the carbs they can put in it, the more the merrier.

On the subject why are people still doing low carb diets, wasnt it proved that the atkins diet is terrible for your body and general state of health, carbs are needed dont lower them.

I tried C2 since my dad works for Coke and brought home some 20 oz bottles. It tastes basically the same but it is noticable not as sweet as usual. So some people might prefer it for that reason rather than the whole low carb nonsense. I actually think it may be nice for your palette when eating certain things since its not so sweet. Haven't tried Pepsi Edge yet, but I'd assume its the same. Weird that they call it Edge though, cause I remember RC having RC Edge that had a lot of caffeine in it and Edge from the WWE marketed it.

I agree though, the low-carb versions of food don't make sense when if you're on a diet you should just stay away from that kind of food in the first place.

Oh, that's the new low call drink then. Not really low carb. (In other words it's low carb because it's low cal). I'vce heard about that. Isn't supposed to be sandwiched between coke and die t coke. Basically haf the calories. For the past decade I've never understood while they haven't done this sooner. I mean, it makes perfect sense. For those who don't want diet but don't want all the cals in a regular coke. It's like coke lite.
Wow, you know that your company is in trouble when you have Ryan Seacrest promoting your products.
Word.

Hehehe - I love discussion about Low Carb diets. I'm currently on a wicked custom diet. Low Carb, Low Cal, Excersise diet... why? Because I'm impatient. I don't need to lose much weight (maybe 20lbs) but Low Cal takes months and Low Carb takes weeks. While I think Atkins is really good for rapid weight loss, I do not believe it's a "lifestyle change" which is how they promote it. I'm a carnivore on crack just like the next guy but I would never think that meat 24x7 is good for me. Same goes for Low Cal. Give up Ice Cream? hahahahaha. F-that!

Anyway, with that said, I do find it laughable at the incredible marketing that has gone into Atkins style products. The market is definitely pandering to the craze, but you can't blame them. There's money to be made. Most of these products aren't even Low Carb. They're "Lower" Carb as even one "C2" drink would bust most Atkins regimes for the day. I personally won't touch the stuff just because of the concept. I'll drink diet instead. I hate diet soda like the next guy, but that's the price you pay to be on the diet you choose.

"Yeah, I'll have 2 Big Macs and a large C2 Coke please" heh. That'll do it! :)

Well put. I drink a lot of soda, but I don't care about being healthy. If I did, I'd stop.

I looked at the new C2 the other day and didn't notice anything about it being low carb, but it did say it had half the sugar. That could be why it doesn't taste as sweet.

But I have no idea if sugar contains a lotta carbs or not.

I have to say, as a diabetic, I enjoy the low carb fad. Diabetics have been ignored for years, and now thatnks to dr. atkins, I have the option to eat decent sugar free brownies, cookies, etc, IF I want to pay the ridiculously inflated prices ($5 for one pack of brownie mix? I think not). Diet soda has never bothered me, because for years, it's been my only option.

I tried Coke C2 yesterday and I thought it was GREAT. It just has less sugar in it which I think gives it a better flavor. I'm so sick of super-sugared pops and even the diet pops that have that acidic fake sugary flavor to them. C2 just has a good flavor I thought.

I was on the diet for awhile, it did have rapid weight loss, which was quite nice. However I was grogy, exhausted, and even more lazy then usual. I went to a nutrionist after sometime, and she completely discredited the diet. Making the point, that all the good the diet really does is get us aware of the carb intake we have. Its not gonna help you lose weight if you eat a loaf of bread for dinner. The whole point is that you need to balance what you eat. Protien and Carbs need to be balanced, and you need to space your meals out, this is the important "life-style change" that needs to be undertaken instead of the cutting of carbs entierly. I drink Diet Soda, because I drink a ton of soda, and after switching to diet i kept losing weight.
