Component cable vs. VGA cable?

Hey all,

Picked up an LCD TV this morning (got an incredible deal), and as such now I can finally, finally use component cables and have HD resolutions. The thing is, the TV (a 20" Sharp Aquos LCD20B9U-S) has both component and VGA inputs available.

I have both cables for the Gamecube (I'm a total tech junkslut), and I just want to know which would produce the best picture quality? I have no damn idea. I'd imagine the component cable would handle it better....maybe...

I can test it out myself, but just wondering if anyone might have some technical info for me.

Thanks all,
StrElliE

VGA pwns composite... component is analog while VGA is digital. But since the GC only outputs at 480p at max, you won't see much of a difference. Colors and refresh rate will be better though.

And what's the VGA wire you got for the GC? I never heard of one being made for it..

EDIT* Nevermind, I just realized I got VGA and DVI mixed up. VGA is NOT DIGITAL, VGA is analog. DVI is digital. But I believe Component is better since it's newer.

Picked it up off fellow CAG dothog via an eBay auction of his. He said it is a hacked component cable that came from somewhere in Asia. That's the extent of what I know about it. He used it to play a GC on a monitor and have prog. scan.

It looks really nice though, very professional. Not like someone cut it open and taped it shut. Now I gots a chance to use it. :)
