Conservatives can't stop whining about Hollywood, but the embarrassing reality is that they want to be hip, too. It's not easy. In the showbiz wrangling sweepstakes of 2004, liberals had Leonardo DiCaprio, the Dixie Chicks and the Boss. The right had Bo Derek, Pat Boone and Jessica Simpson, who, upon meeting the secretary of the interior, Gale Norton, congratulated her for doing "a nice job decorating the White House." Ms. Simpson may be the last performer in America who can make Whoopi Goldberg seem like the soul of wit...

You have to log in, bleh.

But yeah, I don't know why this is being thrown around as of late. Matt and Try are libertarians as far as I know, and usually fall right in the middle on issues.

I haven't seen this show, but someone told me about it:

A recent show with a Terri Shiavo theme had Satan discussing how to keep Kenny alive via a feeding tube, so that he could not go to heaven and assist God in defeating Hell's soldiers. When asked how he is going to accomplish this, Satan said "same as always, we'll have the republicans do it."

That was a brilliant episode. They also managed to incorporate the PSP into the story as well.

For those that don't have a NYT account:

Interesting article. One of the reasons I like South Park is that they go after everyone, much like In Living Color did (another show I liked a lot).

So when do we see an episode making fun of the conservatives? Matt and Trey do a good job of keeping up to date rather quickly with the big news around the US and World.

All the time, obviously. The Halloween episode with Korn is a good example.

I thought it was common knowledge that they equally trash anyone who deserves it, which is everyone. :) In all the episodes I've seen, they've bashed liberal and conservative issues(and the media and umm...everything) to hell and back. I could see how someone who has only seen a few episodes might think that they lean in a certain direction.

One reason why I like South Park and Trey Parker and Matt Stone is the fact that they'll go after everybody, and they really are able to do it cause they have Cartman and Stan/Kyle and they are two polar opposites. I mean they have an episode where they go after hippies (which I particularly loved) and then an episode where they have Hell manipulating the Republicans to get their way. I've pretty much decided that politics are something I don't want to get involved in (cause, as Carlin put it, "It's all bullshit"), but I enjoy how the South Park guys can take politics and really show how stupid it all can be.

Plus, it's fucking funny

The man who wrote this book gave an hour lecture on C-span. He juswt doesn't know what he's talking about. He only points out and sees what he wants to see in the show.

Are you kidding? I've seen this quote everywhere, especially the Right news sites I peruse:

"I hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals."- Matt Stone

Sod off if you don't like RWN. The point is, they're like Maddox: They have their own feelings/beliefs, and I don't think we can group them into one catagory or another. Except maybe "South Parkitarians".

(See the funny play on 'south park' and 'libertarians'? haha. )

Anyway, I love South Park because it's just damn funny. Damn it, I know people inject politics into everything, but for once we should take entertainment as entertainment (gasp), and not argue over who's party it belongs to. Conservatives are just as guilty as Liberals. Jesus.
