I recently bought a 64mb PS2 card online. It was only $13 so I figured why not?
I never have seen a Official Sony 64mb memory card in America, ive only seen 8mb ones. I have 4 8MB cards and was still running out of space for all my game saves, so I decided to try out the 64 one. The card is recognized on my ps2 and for some games seems to be able to have saves, but for most of my games the saves keep getting Corrupted on the 64mb card. Has anyone else had this problem?
Also I got Corrupted Data on one of my 8mb cards from RockBand Saved Data.
I dont know if its my PS2 or my Memory cards that are turning to shit, thankfully I still have that 2yr warranty from BestBuy for my ps2. Maybe ill return it soon if I can't figure out the problem. Anyone know the cause of Corrupted Data on Ps2 memory cards?

I have had my official Sony 8mb card corrupt my GH3 and GH2 saves a few times. Nothing like having to unlock all the damn songs again multiple times. I should throw that damn card away.

I don't know any super technical reasons, but if you remove your memory card, controller, or turn off your PS2 before it's done saving I have seen memory corrupt.
I've seen it happen more frequently on non-Sony brand memory cards.

It's not the system, it's the p.o.s. memory cards. Just letting it go now & coming back to it later won't solve the problem, it'll still be corrupted.

64MB Sony memory cards? I thought those were bootlegs from asia? That might explain the problem right there. Sony only made 8MB memory cards. Looking at reports online, many that bought the knockoffs report the same thing(PS2 not recognizing it weeks after buying it, corrupted data).

As for why anything bigger than the normal size memory card doesn't work. It's because they compress the files more, which in turn, the save files have a better chance of becoming corrupted.

There's no such thing as an official 64MB memory card. If you're running out of space and don't want to buy another card, you should look into something like uLaunchELF, which will let you copy your saves onto a USB key. You'll never run out of space then.
