Went to the local TRU in Westport CT and picked up Counter Strike Platinum Hits version for the original XBOX for 1 cent.

The game box still had the $9.98 sticker on it. It must be scanned to get the .01 price.

The store clerk said this game has been pennied out across all TRU's. Hopefully that is the case.

Good luck!

YMMV, I'm sure. If stores won't sell penny guides, then good luck getting them to sell you a penny game.

Thanks for the heads' up, nevertheless.

My suggestion: If you find one, try and ring it up outside of electronics. And make sure you're buying something else, or a couple other items.

Yeah, I probably got lucky. He sold it to me no problem.

The clerk said they pennied these out a while ago was sure that it was a universal price drop to a penny across all TRU's- but who knows.

The games were thrown in the clearance bin. I have seen these Counter Strikes at other TRU's recently as well, so they should be able to be found.

Also, TRU's have price scanners all over the stores, so maybe scan it there if you find one to check?

i got a bunch of DDR ultramix 4 sampler soundtracks for a penny at TRU and they didnt have a problem with me buying them. i think the saints row demo for the 360 should be pennied now as well cause i had the clerk check it if it was before but still rang at $9.99 (for a freakin demo?!). try buying something like candy or ice cream with it and yes if they refuse to sell it to you in the R ZONE then go to the regular check out.

Mmmmm...ice cream sandwich. I'll try it tonight.

I never been denied penny items at TRU. Once I had to argue about it (the cashier wanted to manually change the price to $19.99 since they said the $0.01 has to be a mistake but a supervisor told her if it rings up for $0.01, that's what they have to sell it for).

I agree about buying other items though, either buy some cheap clearance games or something you plan on returning later even if you don't want anything. Although it is fun to take an item up to the register, have it ring up $0.01, hand the cashier a penny and leave (at Best Buy it's never a problem)

Exactly, buy another item or two and the cashier probably won't even notice.

Good luck with that, all the TRU's I've been to have alarms at the entrance/exit of the electronic section not allowing you to take any games out of the section until after you buy them.

I'm one of the lucky few that has the old style TRU with the old ticket system in the aisle

You realize that all you have to do is lift the game above the sensor -- it's about chest high on me -- and it won't go off.

Dumbest security system ever.

Who pays attention to those stupid things? They go off half the time I walk through them anyway.

I walked out with games from the R-Zone yesterday and the sensors didn't even go off (I waited 5 minutes for a cashier to show up and no one was around so I took the games to a regular cashier)

I've picked up a few penny games at TRU before. Nothing spectacular though, they were Sea Blade (XB) and Terminator: Dawn of Fate (PS2). Leftovers from their long gone green tag clearances.
