anywhere no where i can get the complete series of Cowboy Bebop (all of the discs......not the bootlegged 3-disc version).......i'm looking for it cheap........preferably under 30 or 40 bucks

on a side note.....i've always hated anime........though it was girlish, lame, and cheesy.........but cowboy bebop has changed all that........it is the first series that i have truly enjoy........any suggestions for other series that i would like?!?

Samurai Champloo

It's from the creator of Bebop and looks pretty good, judging from the trailer.

You obviously haven't seen much anime. Check out these off-topics. A lot of people have provided recommendations:

As for the R1 Cowboy Bebop dvds, you will not be able to buy the whole set new for less than $30. There are 6 dvds, and while you may find some of them for less than $20, you will probably pay close to $100 for all of them in the end.

sorry i'm new to anime............i've always known it existed but i never gave it a chance..........anyways, i am now aware that i probably won't be getting this series for less than 100 bucks so i guess i'm not getting it at all....oh well

btw, the "bootleg edition" isnt normally a bootleg. they are all region english/japanese audio Korean copies. Pretty much grey market.

i looked on amazon and they have an edition with all of the episodes on 3 DVDs...........a lot of the reviews claim it is horribly compressed and barely watchable (don't know how true this is).......also it doesn't include the OST or extra features.........i'm tempted to get this because its only 30 bucks but i don't know how bad the video quality really is

i was just thinking.......does anyone here have walmart dvd rental service (similar to netflix)........i wonder if they have the cowboy bebop session DVDs.......i was thinking of subscribing to walmart dvd rentals anyways so maybe i can just rent the episodes from them (i don't really care about owning them)

edit: yes i just looked at walmart's online dvd rental library and they have the whole collection.......guess this is my best bet

legolas cowboy bebop movie is $14.99 at BB it says $22.99 on the label I bought one the other day you should check it out

Ive bought a few different series at both comi-cons and half.com. Ive gotten a few stinkers, but most are fine. Wherever you get them from...ask a LOT of questions. Be slightly annoying. One set i received had PERMANENT chinese subtitles...bad.

Yea I would not get the 3 disc, whatever version of bebop. On anime its not that bad, but if you are going for dvd, you might as well go for quality. Isnt that the point? well besides a few other differences between ghetto vhs :)

Try ebay for good anime dvd box set deals, its where i get all my anime, and if your looking for a good anime try evangelion, it starts off slow but gets very good, its one of my favorite animes.

Well always keep an eye out, anyway. It's unfortunate that anime in general is so expensive, especially for the number of episodes you get per disc (IY, I'm looking in your direction...)

to all those people suggesting where i can get the movie: i'm not looking for the movie (we have a movie channel here at my college and it comes on all the time)........anyways, what i am looking for are the episodes........note: i found them on walmart's dvd rental service so i can get them free with the 30 day trial

Where the hell did you hear that the 3-disc $30 set is boot leg? I bought it, no problems with visuals or sound, and there is English mode. I would suggest these certain sets to all for they are NOT boot leg. I have purchased three of these 3-disc sets. The Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Trigun ones.

Just because they are good quality (and the quality for them is pretty decent) bootlegs doesn't make them legit. A bootleg is still a bootleg.

Dude, it's not a fucking bootleg!!!

No need to get extra defense about man...but it IS a bootleg. It's not like I just decided to make that up or something.

Also, if you wanna buy it fine...that's your choice and I'm not downing anyone for it. I at one time had the same set because I did not have the funds to buy the real dvd releases.

it's not necessarily all anime, but i kind of agree, Cowboy Bebop is the best i've seen. Trigun was pretty good, Inuyasha, imo, was stupid as hell, and those are about all i've seen. i saw the animemovie Metropolis and i liked it, pretty nice movie.

if you live in ny, go to chinatown. there's a nice selection of sets.
i bought the set for 33. it wasn't a bootleg. it was the set from a different region. you can buy chinese, hong kong, korean, or japanese dvd's there. the set i bought has all the same features and presentation as the american 6-disc on a 3-disc set. it's the same thing at a fraction of the price. i know full well that chinatown is a land of piracy, but i also know how to spot the pirated goods. these were not pirated. i also bought GTO complete for 55.

even though it doesn't look like it, the 3-disc set IS a bootleg

If you want a good anime, try FLCL (Fooly Cooly). I was like you, a profound hater, untill i saw this.
Like a good movie, every time i watch this, i get something new out of it.
It shows on midnight saturdays on CN.

I have to agree with the FLCL recommendation. I really don't like most anime series (just Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, and Lupin, mostly because I can see them on CN), but I really liked FLCL. It does involve some robots, but it's not like most giant-robot anime (those kind of turn me off) as the focus is more on the human characters and some really weird things that happen to them. It's really crazy and a lot of strange and unexplainable things happen, but it's all so cool that it seems to make sense. Maybe it does make sense if your Japanese, but I was lost most of the time and still thought it was fascinating.

I too was totally lost watching FLCL..and I hated it. It's nothing like "giant robot anime" or any action-oriented anime for that matter. It's not supposed to be either. It had some interesting elements and such (in fact my fave episode is on right now). It came highly recommended by friends and the like but let me down. I guess I just can't completely like something that doesn't make sense to me. Maybe that makes me narrowed minded?...I dunno.

Yeah, FLCL is complete nonsense. It's best to just appreciate it on a stylistic level. Still, Haruko is awesome, the music is great and the guitar duel in the last episode is one of the best fights in anime, period.

no, that makes you opinionated (in the good way). many anime fans are purely bandwagon fans. whatever is cool at that moment (thanks, dbz...) and then theres people that (and for some this is hard to grasp) enjoy only what they like.

Just my $.02

and a kick ass deal to boot. You can literally save hundreds of dollars versus buying these episodes alone.

The macross saga alone is more than 19 hours long!

Has anyone seen the new Robotech Macross Remastered stuff? I know that they are about $20 a pop and there are three sets. So,if they are truly better, I wouldn't mind paying the extra $10-15 for them. Anyone have opinions?

Samurai Champloo - 17 more days!
Cant wait for the fansubs!

On another note, Walmart sucks. Please dont give them more money than they already have by signing up for thier DVD service.. Try netflix, the price is similar and it's got more dvd's even.
