ARRGGGG....grrr....punched screen. FOX and CBS just reported BUSH will get OHIO!!!!!!!!

I can't take it anymore...I am so depressed...excuse me while I cry.

Looks like Kerry is done for... :(

Most likely, this is the case. Kerry could still pull out a win, however unlikely, due to the extremely large number of provisional ballots that were cast and not yet counted. If Kerry's campaign is correct that there are 250,000 provisionial ballots, Kerry only needs to win 56% of them to regain the lead in Ohio. For some reason, Ohio waits 11 days to count provisional ballots, so once again it will be a waiting game. Does anyone know why there is such a delay in counting those ballots? At least my state, Pennsylvania, supported Kerry.

According to Ken Blackwell, secretary of state for Ohio, there are only 175,000 provisional ballots. And he also stated that they will not change the outcome Bush winning ohio.

175,000 possible provisional ballots... remember, typically only 20% of those are found to be legitimate. Even if 100% are real.. does anyone expect Kerry to take over 80% of them? He needs to concede and not cause another Florida 2000 situation.. its bad for the country.

Sec. of State of Ohio stated that bush's "statstical lead is insurmountable even after the factoring in of provisional ballots"

When I heard that the Civil Union ("Gay") Initiative passed in Ohio at 8:00 that Kerry had probably lost.

I dunno, the fact that initiative passed gives me paused that there are a lot of Ohioians that frankly aren't up to snuff. I find it suprising. That's a lot more than an anti-gay provision. It's effectively a tax hike, a promotion of crime, and a cut in social programs rolled into one.

Also, remember that military ballots still need to be counted, and that's probably 75% for the president. That should cancel out the few gains he receives from provisional ballots.

Not as bad as another 4 years with Bush. Hey, let's make another poll. Who are we going to invade next?

The wait is to allow the ballots time to arrive. Some states mailed ballots last week to military members in Afghanistan and Iraq, and their due date is a week after the election, which is not enough time to be confident snail mail will be delivered both ways.
They should have a count of how many were sent out, and can do the math/assumptions/etc.

[quote name='Ruined']19,000 provisional ballots have been counted so far according to cnn

I just checked cnn. It says the provisional ballots won't be counted until later this week.

Don't absentee ballots have to be counted in alot of these states? I recall hearing that there are around 1.5million absentee ballots in Florida, were those counted yet?

Why are you intentionally spreading lies? At 2pm today they will announce the total number of provisional ballots cast. Tomorrow they begin counting them, and will not be done for 10 days.

90% of provisional ballots were found valid in Ohio in 2000. You could make the argument that because of the Republican challengers in the polling places, that there would be a greater number of Kerry votes. He's not going to win though.

Just repeating what they reported on CNN tv earlier, don't know where they go their info from.

The most recent ballpark figure given by the secretary of state of ohio is now 135,000 provisional ballots are in play. In order for Kerry to win 95-100% would have to be valid and 95-100% would have to be in favor of Kerry. That is a near-impossible statistic to overcome, especially with the overseas pro-Bush military ballets coming in.
