today i went to gamestop because of the B2G1 free deal, hit a few GS before i finally found:

DIGITAL DEVIL SAGA!!! 45.00
DISGAEA!!! 39.00
XENOSAGA2!! 45.00.

was about to put down 90 bucks and whip out my GS card for another 10% off, THEN the guy told me i dont get the art box for digital devil saga X_X.

and no manual for disgaea X_X

I cried a little, fucked gamestop, went over to EB and grabbed digital devil saga new for 55 bucks.

damn you gamestop!!! you and your imcompleteness.

What you should be damning is the douchebags that don't take good care of their games and don't trade them in complete. I seriously think some people toss their game boxes on the floor of the bathroom and piss all over them before they go and trade them in. It's the only explanation for some of the boxes I came across going to GS today for the B2G1

Yes do not blame Gamespot, but those that traded in their game at that condition. I do not understand how hard it is to NOT lose a manual considering there is a place to put it right inside the game box after you are done reading it. Even if you take it out for extended periods of times WTF do these people make love to the manuals... it appears so with the condition of some manuals I get when buying a game used and the stains I see on them.

i saw a used digital devil at eb too, they told me they throw out the box when it was traded in o_O.

to justify myself, xenosaga was 29.99 at alot of places, and digital was well worth 55 bucks.

btw digital devil saga is my first full price game(been playing since the SNES days), I guess i lost my CAG virginity today >_>

I hear a lot about these Digital Devil Saga games, but I don't actually know much about them. From what I've heard they're above-average RPGs, but not much more. Anyone care to shed some light for me, beyond a gamespot review?

DDS1 is pretty cool. I just finished it. I tought it was a good game over all. Its my first one in the Shin Megami line. The character designs are really original, but I only really liked two of the player models. Combat is typical RPG fare. I almost never used magic unless it was the weakness of a boss. I generally only really attacked with one guy too. I had the main guy boost his STR then one guy pass, the next guy lower enemy def and then the first guy cast a hit all attack that kills everyone in 1 hit because he boosted STR. Kinda generic, but it made battles easier. I avoided using magic because you can only bring 8 abilities with you per char. Since most enemies have imunities to something I avoided a lot of the magic and status attacks.

Some Ass in an earlier thread used to boast about always keeping the art from a game "just in case". He got completely flamed as being a selfish asshole. It really is hard to believe that most people would not keep the cd case and instructions. Which makes you wonder where the games without instuctions are coming from.

I'm not sure of GS's policy but they should demand completeness on their trade-ins. If you don't have the case with boxart and manual, it should be some $$$$ taken OFF your credit. That seems fair.

In that way, I guess it could also work into figuring what price they are going to offer it for -- USED & Incomplete.

They do take off credit for incomplete trade-ins...at least, all the ones I've been to do so.

OP, you do realize that the atlus.com sells the old manuals and cardboard boxes for dirt cheap at www.atlus.com ??? you should have hit the b2g1 free sale and got the 3 items for $90 and then paid the extra 2 bucks to atlus.com to get the manual to disgaea and box to dds. instead you drop $55 on dds?!

Maybe it was another place. I remember someone saying you're getting the same trade-in credit with or without the instruction manual.

some of the gamestops will only take complete trade ins, or offer less for the games that arent complete, but then the employees take(steal) the manuals/slipcovers/(and in the case of games like re4 collectors edition the artbooks, laser cells and tins.

Did you ask if they had more than one copy of the game in stock? I bought a Disgaea there, and when I got my copy there wasn't a manual. Asked if they had a copy that had one and they did.

Keeping a manual or case seems pretty lame, but I'll admit to keeping the collector's ed. extras on my MK: Deception when I traded it in. I took the stuff in to trade w/ the game, but when I asked the guy he said they gave the exact same credit with or without that stuff, so I had no incentive NOT to keep the slipcover/bonus disk/metal card. I'll pick up the game again when it drops cheap, and then I'll have the collector's ed. again. ;)
