Dang...Skies of Arcadia Legends for $30...should I bite?

CAGiversary!
On one hand it is rare, and will eventually be hard to find. I hear its one of the best Dreamcast and GC RPGs ever (which can't be that hard considering the small selection on both systems), but still, I hear it is truly a great RPG. Should I bite for $30? $30 is generally high for me, but this game is hard to find.

Have you checked EB/GS? 24.99 used. Hell, it's in stock on the website, which is surprising enough, but I wouldn't order it there unless you want a crappy disc.

There was a reprint for those. So basically every gamestop and eb has the game and its in new condition with the case and manual for $24.99 used. If you order it from the website you'll probably get one of those reprints too.

At one point it costed $50 for a used copy, but then there was a reprint. The reprint was $20 new, and is not necssary the same as the $25 used copies.

Maybe I'm misreading this, but the reprint was absolutely identical to the original print run.

I got mine for about $15 new at a GameCrazy in 2005. I wouldn't call it rare - while I don't see the game everywhere, used copies aren't hard to track down.

Good stuff and I don't think you'll regret trying the game out. I'd say it's one of the best RPG's I've played period. The sense of exploration in the airship, of discovering things, is one of the most wonderful parts of the game. I only wish Sega would cut the shit and make a sequel.

I am just saying the used copies are not new condition like some of the GQD reprints.

I think I paid $13.33 new for that game at a 3 for $40 sale at Fry's. It showed it's age horribly by the time I got around to playing it.
ever heard of the "white map" item?
You don't get that until somewhat far into the game though if I remember. Repetive random battles that take a while to load only for you to dominate in the first turn are its only real weakness though. The rest of the game is really solid and the storyline is good, good length with some extra stuff to do, etc.

Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite games of all time. I liked how it didn't stray too far from the conventions of the traditional Japanese RPG, but strayed just enough to be different and interesting. I thought the game world and the characters were really interesting; the world is so colorful and the characters so cheery it's hard not to like them.

I played through the Dreamcast version, but haven't played the GCN one yet. I imagine the GCN version is as good or even better. When it was reprinted a couple years ago, it was selling for $20 new, so $30 is still not a bad deal.
I hate the game, stupid combact random battles!
I am gussing you never play the Dreamcast version. The lower the encounter rate in the GC version.

No I haven't and that's what I heard. I can't believe it's LOWER!

Why do people always wait for games value to increase to buy them? This game was $17.99 used (ahem, $13.49 during the good ol' morning update days, and dozens of copies were in stock at a time) and $19.99 a little while back at EBGames and now that its going for $30+ people are just noticing. Reminds me of the fools who are just now buying Final Fantasy VII

I luckily had score a copy on ebay about ~2 years ago when the reprint happened. I really like the game, it's pretty fun to be a pirate. Just pay the $30 and if you find another one for less somewhere you can probably sell the other one or something.

I thought Skies of Arcadia Legends was a great game. I would say I probably had more fun playing that game than any other game on the Gamecube. The story and music were really well done, the environments were varied, the battles were fun though the random battles did occur a little too often. I bought the game used for $17.99 but it would have been worth every penny had I bought it for $50 when it first came out. If I ever have more free time I'd like to play through it again because I enjoyed it that much.
