If you're a fan of mario music, the game is worth picking up because it has some fantastic remixes. However, if you're a DDR veteran looking for a new challenge, you'll probably find the game to be on the easy side.

The mini-games, especially the Mario 1 flag-jumping one, are a good change of pace.

That's what I've read everywhere but since I never played a DDR game too serious (as in, more than 10 minutes), I think I'll pick this up. I hope the game and pad retail for $50...
 
I can't comment on whether the game works with freeloader, as my Cube is modified. I haven't heard it's incompatible with Freeloader, but you may want to double check on the message boards at GameFAQs.com
