[DEAD] Final Fantasy XIII-2 Collectors Edition $59.99!

I returned an unopened copy of FFXIII-2 CE to gamestop and picked up a new one at Best Buy price matched with the story book Episode i– novella... better than nothing which I got from gamestop
 
Guess I'll hold out hope for an Amazon price match...got a $50 gift card I've been debating on what to use for, might just be this if they do.

they are and never been an investment opportunity to me, i open and play my games. it was more of i wanted to pick it up before it became hard to find and might cost me twice the original price. and i was quite annoyed to find it less than a month later for around half the cost.

the same thing is happening now with ff13-2 i picked up the CE because i knew i would eventually get the game either way, but i really enjoy a lot of soundtracks, and figured this would be a better option to just pick it up now.

only to find out that everywhere has them sitting around and now GS has it for $20 less, i have no way to recoup that since i purchased it on amazon.

so to recap, i am upset that the price of the game dropped less than a month later, not that a game did not become rare. i would prefer that no games were rare, and that more people could enjoy them without having to pay ridiculous prices because they can only find them on ebay
 
CRAP! Been sitting here for Amazon to price drop too because I had $20 from Syndicate just realized I have 25000 powerup pts. For some reason I keep saving them, but I could use it to get $25 off at Gamestop....even though I want to keep collecting the pts it basically the same thing...

EDIT: Can't use the code online though :(
 
Taking my :360: copy back for a price adjustment. Though I might see if they have a :ps3: copy in stock to exchange it with since I plan on playing it again eventually. :)

Pricematch success at my local bestbuy! I just decided to get it now to get the novella too. Won't be able to play it until next month but yeah. M ok with the price of the collectors edition.
 
PM'ed at Best Buy with little hassle. The head gaming specialist went to the GameStop website to verify the price, smirked. then printed out some journal showing the internal store cost of the game....

...I guess GameStop got hooked up, because this collector's edition costs Best Buy $67.20! (Yes he actually showed me the print-out so I know he wasn't pulling this out his ass) He said he'd do the PM anyway since he always sees me in the store. (LOL I only go in to take advantage of their trade-in promotions and to buy Kindle gifts cards)

those prices are what they use to determine employee discounts (employees get a discount something like 10% above the store's cost). Naturally they're almost always wrong, and inflated to diminish the discount. I worked there for years and I promise you there's no way BB pays what they claim on many items at the quantities they would have ordered.

That said, GS may be selling them at a loss to clearance as they often do with CEs. Their shelf space is precious to them.
 
Hey guys I've never PM'd at Best Buy before, can I just have the guy look at the GameStop website and that's enough?

Also, did you guys call around to see if any in the area had the CE + book and was it hard to find?

I think best buy's CEs all have the novella. They are shrink wrapped together. . I checked the website if they have stock in store. When I got to the store I went straight to the video game rep and asked for the CE, he had to get it from the back storage. The rep had to call the local GameStop if they had one. After that he just had to rang it up and have a manager make an override.
 
I was at a best buy who had one copy left of the collector's edition in the plastic case and the novella book wasn't with it :/. Going to get one from gamestop and buy the book separate.
 
Are there 2 collectors editions out?
I was under the impression that the CE actually says collectors edition on the front and has the soundtrack.

The novella was just a pre order bonus at best buy. It's just bundled with the game and that's it. It looks like a regular copy with lightning on the front.

The one i got last week was the CE with Soundtrack and it came with the Novella bundled with it (shrink-wrapped together). I'll upload a picture of it later.

Bestbuy also had the regular game bundled with the novella and it was packaged together. they packaged it in a box. They had it during the launch week on the shelves. I think it was a limited run at best buy but some stores may still have it. just ask the rep. sometimes they just pull them out after the deal week and just put them in the back storage.
 
I got the CE pm'ed at Best Buy tonight with a Novella. The site said it was 'unavailable' at that location but when I called they had one left and put it aside for me. Good luck to everyone looking for one with the novella!
 
IMHO, I dont think the novella is worth it. It's a small hard cover book with no art in it. It's literally a fan fic and I think there are PDFs on it online.

Obviously you're going to spend money how you want but don't go through too much trouble for it. The soundtrack is far nicer I think

Got mine pricematched at BestBuy for the novella. Great deal to add to my LE from the UK!! Was hoping to buy the crystal edition, but it had sold out, but the 4-disc soundtrack was all I really as after!

Wow, I literally traded in a few games (to pay for this) and priced matched this at Best Buy a few hours ago, and now its back up to full price? I just made the cut :D Thanks for the thread OP.

Yep! Got mine Friday and have been playing since. Love it! Listening to the included soundtrack on my ipod at work.

Don't forget to pick up the Sarah bathing suit costume and Sahz goes gambling DLC!

Went to BB TONIGHT and didn't bother checking this thread first, looked like an idiot as the guy was checking our GS and Amazon sites and showed the 79.99 price.

Ugh. Guess I'll wait to see if the price drops again.
