Dead Rising?

CAGiversary!
So I played the demo and have looked at the reviews but I am still unsure about dead rising. Also I was wondering if paying $17 for this on amazon is a good deal.

It's a pretty good game, and really fun. But I think you can get it cheaper elsewhere. At Gamestop even if you don't mind used. It's 14.99 on their site and with the 20pre code that knocks off 2.70, and if you're an Edge member that's another 1.50.
I hate the save feature in this game.
I heard about this could you tell me more.

The save feature is the one thing that keeps me from unconditionally recommending this to you.

You can only save in one location in the mall. So anytime you want to save you have to journey back to the safe house to save your progress. In a game where time matters a lot this can be kind punishing on the player.

That said, this is one of my favorite games for the 360. If you like achievements, it also has some of the best use of achievements in a 360 game. Trying to get them will shape how you play through the game and multiple play throughs will be required. Some are ridiculous - like the one that requires you to play 14 hours straight but most are pretty cool.

If you liked the demo I think it is worth $17, but like everyone else said you can probably score it for much cheaper.

I haven't played it in awhile, but I thought there were at least 2 or 3 places to save in the mall... Sure, it's tough, but that's what made it fun. It's a zombie outbreak, and the unfortunate inability to save where ever you want helps push the game a step further. It's great that you can do what you wish and use a multitude of different weapons, even if you can only save at a few places in the mall. I loved the game and think even $15 - $20 is worth it, but it looks like the OP found it for a great price.

I really didn't like it. The first time I tried to play was on a SDTV and the text is so small it's impossible to read making the missions impossible to figure out. The save system is loved by some hated by some. I hated it. It was dull, repetitive, AI was attrocious.

It's one of those that has a solid following, but I thought it was terrible.

I wouldn't pay $17 on Amazon for it, I would think there are cheaper places.

Edit: ...and after reading the rest of the thread, I see you already got it for $9. Hope you enjoyed it more than I did.

I payed around $25 for it and haven't regretted it. It was sort of a breath of fresh air since at that time there weren't too many games that had zombies... well other than Resident Evil. The first time I played it, I didn't even attempt half the missions just because it was so much fun running around the mall killing zombies. My only problem with the game is that blade based weapons (knife, swords, axes, etc.) seemed too powerful in comparison to guns or other melee weapons.
