I found this show online and watched it in marathon fashion. Great show but, from what I remember it didnt really have any finality to the ending. Seems like they thought it would go another season and then it got cancelled. I will eventually pick up the series but, I can wait.

This is exactly what happened, they had the rug pulled right from under their feet. There were talks of the majority of the cast re-uniting for a film to conclude the series, but nothing ever came of it.
