I just picked up a used 20 GB 360 but don't have the Charge n' Play kit, which seems like it is worth getting vs. swapping out rechargeable batteries.

Anybody know where to get a good deal on one of these kits (preferably white)?

Any other accessories which are a must have?

You missed out on K-mart's $10 sale on these 2-3 weeks ago. Other than that, I haven't seen a good deal below Amazon's $18 any other place or other time. :(

I bought two sets of the charge and play kits at launch and they were definitely needed and used. However, since my gf gave me the Energizer dual recharge station, I haven't had to use the play and charge since. (And you still need rechargeable batteries for this to work.)

K-mart also had Nyko dual recharging station with two batteries for $3 on clearance, but that's a huge YMMV store.

The play and charge kit was the only accessory I needed everything else was just bonus (messenger kit, vision kit, vga kit (before HDMI)). I have wired access to my router. If you don't, then the wireless adapter is necessary. (I have two of my 360's on wireless and the other wired.)

I had an old Xbox wi-fi adapter that I traded for way back when (I wanted to try using it with a DVR), so I am using that. My 360 has HDMI output, so I can use that if I want (though I am currently just using the component cables as that gives me 1080i - I'll keep my TV's 2 HDMI slots for the PS3 and my HD-DVR).

Sucks that I missed the deal...

Skip the play n charge kits for the quick charger. Play n charge takes forever to charge up your batteries (7 hours) vs the quick charger's 3 hrs. This whole rechargeable kit thing is horrible to begin with. Such a rip-off to have to buy a rechargeable battery and go out and get a good recharger. Play n charge is the biggest rip-off because of the long time it takes. Sony gives you everything straight out of the box... wire to charge your rechargeable controller

Hmm, the quick charger does look like it might be worth the extra $$ - any good deals on this anywhere?

I have a quick charger and that is the way to go. I paid full price for my charger but bought extra batteries from sams club they were 5.97 each when i got them. Now i have 2 controllers and 4 rechargable battries. I will never go back to the play and charge kit, it really takes for every to charge a battery. it felt like i owned a wired controller.

Amazon is currently having an amazing deal (at least I think) on the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit with a Black Controller for $39.99. I was looking for an extra controller to buy and I missed the $27.99 & $29.99 on the white and black controllers they had a couple of days ago and they went back up to $37.99.

I know you were looking for the charger and pack itself in white, but I thought this deal was too good to pass considering that they can range anywhere from $50-65 for both.

The play and charge kit effs with the batteries, they quickly lose their charge and eventually won't charge at all. Get the quick charge base, I still need to get one myself. They're $30, and pretty much never go on sale, however it'll save you money in the long run.

Just buy yourself some good rechargeable AA's and don't mess with the P&C or Quick Charge kits.

I had a few of each for a couple of years and ended up with two good batteries, two half-chargeable batteries and one dead battery.

I've switched out to Enerloops and haven't looked back.

Honestly hes completely right here. I have had four 360 rechargable batteries all die and refuse to hold any charge, and I really don't even play 360 more than 5 hours on an average week over a couple of years. You can buy 8 eneloops and a charger from Amazon for $30, and those will last you several years and they will last much longer per charge than the 360 official batteries will. The eneloops are usable in anything, and they end up saving you a lot of money in the long run.

AA Eneloops. As long as you get enough cells to have an always charged set (basically, 2 extra batteries), you won't want for the official rechargeable packs.

You are right, I did feel like I owned a wired controller 50% of the time with the play and charge kit. I do like it for a possible emergency all batteries dead scenario (never happened since owning a charging base).

I wouldn't give them that much credit. The charging wire is so short (3') that it is impossible to use without an USB extension. My PS3 controllers are always dead when I go to use them. Without a replaceable battery pack, an ample length charge cable is always needed.

$38.99 at the moment (sold by BlueProton, and fulfilled by Amazon, so it's FSSS / Prime compatible), though SlickDeals tends to know where to find these on the cheaper.

If you have a Costco nearby, you can find the same kit for $30, and I've picked up a number of them over the years. Well worth the money.

Sounds like rechargeable AAs are the way to go, and since I already have those I'll just keep using them. I figured that the packs would give you a greater battery life/faster charge - guess not.

It is pretty ridiculous that the Xbox doesn't include the charging cable when you buy it. Guess I've gotten spoiled with my PS3.
