Death of a system or corporation

phew. I was afraid it was going to be another post by Ruined. Nintendo's actually in the best position out of the 3. They're not 61 Billion U.S. in Debt. And their last console didnt cost them $4 Billion.
Guys I want to know which system or corp. will be gone. We already know (hopefully not the case) that nintendo will probably be out first. But I want to know what you guys think of who will die out between playstation and xbox. AND I DONT WANT THIS TO BECOME A FANBOY WAR. that being said unless its a sarcastic remark dont comment on it please.

Sorry if this topic has been brought up before:bouncy:
No one is close to going anywhere for the foreseeable future. Nintendo is a HIGHLY profitable company - financially they are more successful than any of their competitors.

It will be the year 2074 when the chocolate covered turkeys invade. Having purchased the sole rights to the planet, Microsoft will be the first to send in its Xbots to defend the planet. However, the turkeys use a freeware version of Linux are are subsequently immune to the lack of functionality and flexiblity of the Xbots. Luckily, the underground Sony resistance bundled the PS7 with a plutonium deathray. Originally, they had planned a quantum shifting neutrino bomb, but, regretably, made a last minute cut back to keep prices down for the average guerilla enthusiast. Nintendo hasn't been seen since 2067 when their prototype Nintendo Ultima controller offering 'extra dimentional gameplay' fazed their corporate offices out of this plane of existance.

Thank god for the Phantom. It was finally released days before the attack being just under 6 trillion dollars over budget. The chocolate turkeys had herd rummors of the uberconsole, but did not seriously expect our backwards society to be able to produce a machine capable of all the functionality off all three systems AND the ability to run PC games without installing cumbersome drivers and patches. In the end, the Phantom's stylish design and ease of use was to much for the Linux based turkies and subsequently melted their minds, leaving a hollow chocolate caracase.

And that is why we celibrate easter.

When one of the consoles/corporations goes down, it will probably be the first signs of the market failing. No matter how you can look at it.
Seeing as how nobody here can predict the future, all I have to say is...

Thanks OP. Ignore List +1
Indeed. What a stupid post.

HEY GUYS WHO DO YOU THINK WILL DIE FIRST PLAYSTATION OR XBOXCUBE PLEASE NO FANBOYS

Since we are talking about the death of a system what the fuck happened to the Phanthom that I heard so much about in EGM & Game Informer?

If you're talking about Sony, you need to learn the difference between debt and liabilities. Sony's long term debt stands at $631.4 MILLION as of 31-March-05.

As for M$, they have money to burn and it's working for them. Nintendo is only in good shape due to their handhelds. I can't think of any great games coming out for GC the rest of the year.

Lots of things wrong with this post, but this was the most glaring. Ninty still makes a profit on the Gamecube's sales, hardware and software included.

The same cannot be said for Sony or Microsoft.

It's a simple concept, really, I'm always astounded by people not understanding it.

I think Sega will be the first to bow out of the console business. The Dreamcast isn't doing very well.

(Disclaimer: I was hit in the head in mid-2001 and can't remember anything past then.)

I want to make a joke about 9/11, but that would be in really poor taste.

Instead I will foretell the future to you: Roy of Seigfreid and Roy is TEH DOOMED!11

ONE of these company's need to fall so SEGA can come back with a high end system. Millions of SEGA fans still await the day at an E3 when SEGA announce there hardware comeback with there new system!

I know Im one of them. Since the Genesis I cant get enough of Sega. The Dreamcast is also my faovite system even though it died early on in life. When that day comes i will be the first to buy it.

You mean a handfull of fans. I think its safe to say that SEGA did the wisest thing they could do to keep thier company in business. They don't know how to run a console correctly, and just need to focus on making good games, which they havent even been doing that right lately.

Oh noes! That ruins my Las Vegas vacation, now I'll have to go to New Orleans instead.

I wouldn't be so sure that Nintendo will be the first to 'fold'. If anything they'd just stop making hardware and focus on making great software for the other consoles, they have so many valuable IPs that it would be very surprising IMO if they folded any time soon. And things can change drastically from gen to gen. Sure if I had to bet I'd guess the Rev will be the #3 console once again in the coming gen, but it ain't even close to decided yet.

Microsoft could just as easily decide they aren't dominating the space like they had hoped and walk away from creating a video game console after the 360.

Actually, I don't see a single thing wrong with the post. Where are the GC must-own games? A: delayed until next year.

Please provide links with detailed information outlining how much Nintendo makes PROFIT on each console. No speculation based on sales figures.

I believe Nintendo releases product by product break downs of sales and profit in their annual(quarterly?) stockholder's report.

I remember hearing once that Nintendo lost a little money on the 'cube the first time it went down to $99 w/game, but even that didnt' last terribly long.

The opposite it is more interesting. Do you have a proof they are selling hardware for a loss? I know that it is a "known fact of the industry", but it is also commonly accepted that Nintendo does not like to sell hardware at a loss.

They don't have a parent industry with a monopoly on OS or whatever or an separate electronics division. They are alone in the world.

Nintendo has taken no action that leads me to believe they sell for a loss.

Show data to even raise that question.

Wow, uh, way to bring a thread back from the dead just to bash people. That's cool. Abide by your own rules, pal.

Dude, don't

A) start a flamebait topic

B) act like a jerk

and

C) re-open a 6 month old dead topic in order to accomplish A and B again.

No, those are all good ideas! Do them more!!!
I guess I will be counted as a jerk, for only trying to show all the others, it takes one to know one I guess, but I wasn't talking about you as you made no bad posts here, BUT who cares if I make a 6 month old topic come back up again, in the future someone will probably post something exactly like this, anyway this thread DOES like I said before need to be Locked or Deleted! Or no one could have said anything to me this could have been on page 40,000 by Thursday. But since you said I'm a jerk, I should take a shot at your avatar
If you had reopened it to say, "Hey, let's talk anew about the financial state of the major game makers." that'd be one thing (and probably a good thing--but if you really wanted to talk about that, you should've phrased things better in the OP). Buy you reopened the thread saying, "You guys are all a bunch of jerks, and I want you to know that!" Not a very noble thing to do.

What's all this talk about avatars then? There are millions of people who take..."shots"..at the Hot Marios. It just has that effect on people. They see it, are in awe of its radiance, and SPLAT!

Look man, I don't know whether or not this was a legitimate question, but if it was then it was made in gross ignorance. Let's review:

Nintendo - Been around for more than a century(give or take) and is consistently profitable. Their profits are fluctuating, but they generally bank fat cash.

Microsoft- Xbox division took a huge hit, but company is run by ULTRA NERD BILLIONAIRE. Let's not forget how ubiquitous MS products are. The Xbox Division isn't their only business. MS has got some dolla-bills.

Sony- Home entertainment division has taken a hit, but their PS2 has made tons of money.

No one knows what the hell will happen in the future. For all we know, the Phantom could come in and kick those three in their change purses.

Haha, you think I'm bothered by being called a jerk? You apparently haven't been paying attention to the sorts of things I post.

Also, my avatar is the height of awesomeness, a clearly undebatable statement, but I welcome your attempts. So please go ahead.

The chasm between me and caring will be large enough to send galaxies through, but that shouldn't stop your valiant efforts.

I don't think there will be system or company that will be gone for these three big companies have their own supporter even if they won't admit it. Like for the Xbox 360, even there had been shortages still many wait for the next release of their products. The PS3, even if the console haven't been released yet there are already fanatics who will die to fight for it in consoles war. Besides, PS3 will bring innovation to the gaming industry with their cell processor. The Nintendo will surely won't fade in the gaming industry cause unlike the first two they are targetting different market for their products, the younger ones. ;)
The basic problem with people today is not caring... anyway I'm young and stubborn which is probably why I'm posting this and the last few one's I did, but make no mistake I will not be posting here again. daroga I posted maybe twice and this was one of them from the time I joined to Feb 06. It's my first real forum, sorry If I didn't know how to phrase it perfectly. I was basing it on console popularity and sales. I guess I'm done arguing on this thread, I don't think I was calling everyone a jerk, and I guess it's great to be known on a forum for being an asshole. I'll be sticking to a couple forums from now on and even if you tempt me to post again here I won't so have fun... thanks to all the people who actually posted about the topic and not about how dumb it was
Well, then, you've learned something about social interaction and how to practice proper decorum even online. I encourage you to hang out here and put your newfound skills to use. But, if you don't, have fun wherever the wind may take you!

Everyone in this thread is in denial. All 3 big companies will kneel before the new Atari Console. It's being code named Atari 2600 X 100,000,000. It's going to have HD Asteroids and a sequel to Laser Blast. There are also rumors of backwards compatibility.
