Defective Disc Dilemma

OK- I have discovered the copy of Soul Calibur for Dreamcast I bought at GC, does not play. This isn't too bad, I already had a disc-olny copy of Soul Calibur, I bought cuz it had the case/manual, and for 5 bucks I was willing to get myself a complete copy.

My problem is- do I return the defective disc, without the orignal case/manual? My other copy was in a computer-prinout case, so it's likely they wouldn't know... but my gut says this is not really kosher. On the other hand, my Greed says its a game store, and a bad game means I get something back- besides, there was a disc-only copy too- I could exchange for that and have a spare to trade/ give away (as I'm prone to do.)

I'd love some input- what do you all think is fair/right to do?
They have disc buffers there..
It's not scratched. It's actually in better shape than my other disc. It just won't run- get gets to the 'Sega' screen and make weird noises. I think it was probably left in the sun and warped or something.

I'm thinking, I'll grab the disc, and go back, and see if I can find the disc-only copy. If I can, I'll exchange. If not... I'm making it into a coaster. I figure if I use a broken CD case as a mold, and get some of that floral hold plastic-gel stuff, I could make some neat coasters (especially with the messed up Jap PSone games I got to finish the set.)
