dell xps 420 issues

CAGiversary!
The other day my xps 420 would just shut down and the power button would flash. It had no pattern to it and was amber in color. I looked in the book to see what the issue was and that was of no help. Everything I found suggested it could be the power supply, processor, motherboard, or the RAM. I put my old power supply in and started to get a 1-3-2 error. I took all of the RAM out and moved one from one slot to the next testing it and then did the same with the other three. After some more research I found that some with the 7xx model have had all four stick go out at once, so I purchased new stick of RAM. I only opened the one pack up and tried both sticks the same way. I still get the 1-3-2 error. Other than getting rid of the PC because it is a Dell does anyone have suggestions?

Too many factors to count. My guess? Your motherboard is done. This PC is what 5 years old? Be happy your factory bought PC lasted this long. Current PC life time is 4 years. 5-6 years if you regularly take care of it (clean out the dust and re-do the hdds every 8 months).

I don't have any suggestions other than the scrap the thing for parts and get something new.

^ Agreed with J-Cart. Save the HD as a possible back up device.

That's what I thought. I'm looking into buying a new case, mother board, RAM and the CPU then just taking the hard drives, 5750 Ati card and DVD drives out of the Dell and the Gateway 825GM.
