Desperate for a 12 Month X-Box Live Subscription Deal

Anyone seen any great deals on a 12 month X-Box Live Subscription?

Cheapest I can find is $42. Anybody seen any better?

Also, I am running a wi-fi to my X360 .. do you find you are at a real disadvantage with ping times and such .. you know, getting killed a lot because it's not as fast as plugging straight in to the router .. or maybe I should plug straight in to the cable modem?

All new to this and need your knowledge.

if your Wi-FI is an 802.11G (instead of B) you should be fine as far as latency goes. (assuming you have a good connection)

I don't see any deals right now on live (best I see if 42.99 shipped at buy.com)
you can make that 32.99 if you use google check out

if you can afford to wait a few days a deal is bound to come up, they seem to be around all the time. I got mine for like 27 bucks or so a month or 2 ago.

As for the latency with wireless, depending on the game, you are at a slight-to-moderate disadvantage when it comes to placement of shots due to lost packets of information transmitted wirelessly. I'm an avid Gears player and I found playing through a friends wireless adapter my results were greatly impacted to a negative degree. Granted, Gears has well-documented lag issues. Games like COD4 have much better net code.

Best option, if possible. Straight to the cable modem. Second option, and subsequently what most tend to do, through the router (make sure ports are open). My opinion, wireless only if all else fails.

On the topic of live suscription cards, I need one as well. A few online deals were posted last week, but I'm looking for some in-store deals. Haven't seen much lately at all.

I have an old one that I bought 2 years ago. It is good for 12 months. Since M$ has charged my CC every year, I never got to use it. I may part with it...PM me.
