Music lovers: prepare for an abstract and surreal interactive gaming experience like no other. Set the scene for your favourite music tracks by uploading them to Detuned, the game that lets you make visual accompaniments for your favourite music track. The only thing limiting you is your imagination: upload your tracks and use your DUALSHOCK 3 or SIXAXIS wireless controller to manipulate what you see. US PSBlog update 10/14/09

.detuned Available Tomorrow on PSN for $2.99

Posted by Rusty Buchert // Sr. Producer, Sony Santa Monica Studios

Hi everyone, it’s Rusty Buchert from SCEA’s Santa Monica Studios again. I just wanted check in and let you know that .detuned will be available for download from the PlayStation Network beginning tomorrow for $2.99! For those of you that aren’t familiar with .detuned, it is another experiment with the demoscene and was made by .theprodukkt. (yes, there is supposed to be a period at the beginning of the name), who are located in Germany and have been a very influential group in the scene for over a decade.

So what the heck is .detuned? It isn’t exactly a game or an art piece like Linger in Shadows. It is a user-driven music visualizer that allows you to create your own visual performance to accompany your favorite music tracks on the XMB, simply by using the SIXAXIS controller to manipulate and interact with objects within a scene. It also has its own music and a performance you can watch, too!

So, for those of you wanting a different experience on the PS3, get your creative juices flowing now. I highly recommend downloading this tomorrow to have some fun.

It’s Rusty Buchert from SCEA Santa Monica again and I’m here to talk to you about another experiment from the demoscene that will be coming down the pipeline later this year. This one is called .deTuned and is made by .theprodukkt, who has been involved in the demoscene for quite a while now. They have done some interesting pieces, which includes .kkrieger, an FPS that is all done with one 96k file.
.deTuned is a bit of an odd beast that offers an abstract and surreal interactive experience like nothing else. It is not exactly a game or an art piece like Linger in Shadows. It allows you to create your own visual to accompany your favorite music tracks on the XMB, and using the SIXAXIS™ Wireless Controller, you will be able to manipulate the given scene by interacting with and modifying a man and his world. It even lets you tweak your music as you play with it.
Check out some of the photos below.

It’s all in your hands!
That’s all I can offer for now. Continue to check here for the latest updates
This is up on the PSN over in Japan for 300yen. So could mean it is releasing else where soon.
I totally forgot about this.. Thought it was cancelled. :p Is there a demo on JPN PSN?

No demo. I don't think there was a demo for "Linger in the shadows" either. Though I hope they will be priced the same in the US. Maybe even a bundle deal for the two.
Out Thursday for $2.99 in the US which I think is close to the price in Japan.
Nice I might pick this up, but if anyone else does post comments here what it's like :)

If you know what you are getting into and already love the work these guys do, it's great. If you don't know what a demoscene is, stay away.

I love it, but I have a love for the demoscene community especially for these guys... as soon as their signature loading bar came up on screen, I was in love :)

Got this last night, and enjoyed it for what it is. Had flashbacks of Liquid Television while playing it. When I was done, my trophy list was a bit more robust. Just don't go into this expecting a visualizer for your music. You have to interact with it -- the visuals do not react to your music, and the camera is completely user-controlled (with SIXAXIS support). All in all, probably not for everyone, but not bad for $3.

Does this thing have an 'export to You Tube' feature like a lot of other PSN titles do?
Seems like it would be a no-brainer for people to make their own music videos with this thing.

No, unfortunately. It's actually very light on features and options, but that's to be expected. Also, for anyone who is curious, it does not output in 1080p like Linger in Shadows.
