Hey,

So I am currently looking for a new laptop to play Diablo 3 on but I want to wait until more Ivy Bridge options get released in the coming months. With that said, I still plan on buying and playing Diablo 3 when it releases on Tuesday. Here is my current laptop:

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=5035&review=gateway+p7805u+fx

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
17" WXGA+ Glossy LCD display at 1440x900 (Reviewed with a 1920x1200 WUXGA Panel)
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS with 1GB GDDR3 memory
Intel 5100AGN Wireless
4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM (2GB x 2)
320GB Western Digital Scorpio Black hard disk drive (7200RPM)

Will this laptop be able to run Diablo 3 at all? I do not need it to run at high settings, I just want to be able to enjoy the game until I get a new computer. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

You'll definitely be able to run it, and since you aren't going to be running it at the highest setting, you will be okay.

The FX line is actually pretty decent for a gaming laptop, even though it's branded Gateway on the outside. It will definitely be sufficient for Diablo 3, as long as you don't run it on the highest settings. You may be able to get it relatively high, but it might get pretty choppy at that point, so I suggest just playing around with each individual settings in the game when you play it.

OP, My Late 2008 MacBook Pro has very similar specs to your current laptop except my MBP has a nvidia 9600m gt. I was able to run the beta at very low settings, although I would not classify it as having been an enjoyable experience. I believe your 9800m gts is a much faster gpu, so you should not have any issues playing the game with your current laptop.

I would never use this as a guide for finding out what you can run. It only looks at the requirements and simply tells you if you "pass" or "fail".

You can figure out such things from google or common sense.

OP's lappy can run many games but his processor is going to be the main culprit of any issues.

It actually tells you what components you may need to upgrade as well. Also, who in the hell refers to a Laptop as a "lappy?" Seriously........

Cool story bro.

To answer your question, someone who can actually build his own rig and not rely on some pathetic "canirunit" website.
