Disable a Laptop Battery?

Does anyone know how to go about disabling a laptop battery? I Googled some but couldn't find any help.

My battery is shot, so the battery light on the laptop continuously flashes orange. I've taken it out recently, but one of the laptop's rubber feet is attached to the battery, so it the whole laptop wobbles when it isn't there.

It is a 9-cell lith-ion and the lappy is a Dell Inspiron 6000 running XP.

personally i'd just put something over the connectors like tape perhaps that way it probalby wouldn't see the battery when it was in. Make certain what ever you use is heat resistant, perhaps black electrical tape?

electrical tape over the contacts works perfectly
