This has nothing to do with how i treat my cd's becuase i take very excellent care of my CD's and all game DVD's.

I have noticed since i got my first ps2 over 5 years ago now ( i think?) that all of my game discs that i use a bit get a bit of cloudyness on the bottom of them.

Does anyone out there know what this is? if so, how do you avoid it? i really hope it isnt ruining the games.

That's happened to some of my games too. If you're PS2's in its vertical stance, get it hortizontal ASAP- that cuts back on some of the problem.

The cloudiness should come off with just a good cleaning, actually, and I don't think it hurts your games. (I'm pretty sure all of mine still play!)

ive never noticed it too effect any games i have, BUT i do worry about it, because i remember reading somewhere once that it was from the game disc;s plastic protective layer being melted slowly.

if that's true it freaks me the hell out, i hate the thouhgt of spending so much money on games to have them rot away slowly without the possability of being to play it again in the future in i feel so inclined.

by the way, ive seen it on xbox games too.

It probably has to do with the air (and subsequent dust) flow that you get from having it stand vertically. Well that is if you have it vertical in the first place.

na, i have a newer model PSTWO. ive always worried about this stuff. I have come to think it must be condinsation from the air inside the drive being so hot it collects on the disc and makes spots. it can easily be wiped off i noticed.
