I just spent a good couple of hours trying to find a copy of Disgaea for PS2.
Not at any local gamestores, and only going for $50 or more USED on most places on the net. Gamestop.com had it for $40, but without a case or instructions. fuck that!

eventually i found it at gamequestdirect.com for $50 new, which is a little rough, but whatever. sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you.

Moral of the story: if your thinking of getting Disgaea, do it soon before the prices get really ridiculous!

Is GQD really bad? They seem to have so much in stock and stuff that I really want to order. I heard their not the best place around but is it worth it?

You should've checked my tradelist a few days ago - I had Disgaea mint/complete with guide for $55 shipped, but I pulled it down because so many people wanted just the guide and not the game. Now that I've finally completed the Nippon Ichi trilogy, I think Disgaea's going to stay with me for a while.

Good luck with GameQuestDirect - their customer service is HORRIBLE. They even had to shut down their account on eBay for a while because about 5-10% of people who bought from them before Christmas said they never got their stuff. My order came about a week or two late, so I'd be willing to bet that by the time you receive your game, you will have already found it cheaper elsewhere.
 
I actually also ordered Disgaea from GameQuestDirect a week or two ago, and had no problems whatsoever. They even upped my shipping method to two-day for free. I bit the bullet and paid $60 shipped for the game, but judging how much I like La Pucelle, I had to go for it before this game becomes ultra-rare. This is the best price I found online for it brand new.

definitely get it. Especially if it comes complete and/or mint. Barring a reprint, this game will definitely shoot up in value, and it's fun to boot.

I think my local place still has a few copies they sell for about 45 before tax or so, too bad they dont do internet sales.
 
I bought a new sealed copy off eBay before XMas for $40. I also bought a second copy for a XMas gift off ebay for $45, but the sucker never shipped it. Got my money back via PayPal at least. Keep an eye for deals on eBay. I sniped both of these at respectable prices.

Oh, and Apossum, don't feel bad about paying full price for this game. This one is worth the price of admission. Now you can begin leveling up to level 9,999, LOL. This game is nuts!

Same here man, I just know that after the sale plenty of people were selling/trading the game on the cheap.

I'm thinking of holding on to this sealed copy anyway and wait to see if it pops up anywhere...as I have about a million games to play (xenosaga 2, xenogears, dmc3, fatal frame 2, Ninja gaiden hurricane pack 2, deus ex, kotor 2, mgs:tts, the list goes on...)

As for gamequest-- i can tell they aren't the most professional people(their confirmation email was a jumble of broken html) but as long as it gets here sealed..

that is probally cuz you didn't get there fast enough, I got one :) along with about 15 other games (no doubles)
 
I had a copy on backorder for Disgaea on Outpost.com for 39.99 for about a month. Then my wife found a new copy for 49.99 at EB, which she bought for me for Valentine's Day. I cancelled the Outpost order. I doubt they would have restocked anyways. So there are a few copies out there.
 
They are not as prevelant as they were before, but sealed copies seem to go for less than $50 on ebay these days. There is one on ebay now and one that ended last week sold for $44. This is before shipping of course.
 
Heh, so i ended up stopping by Gamestop today and some guy was trading in a Disgaea. Got that and La Pucelle for $56 used, the total cost of Disgaea from gamequest.

I cancelled my order with them which was easy-- just called them, gave my order # and done.

unfortunately, i won't touch either game till i'm done with xenosaga and DMC3!

If you live Chicago-ish as your profile suggests, Fry's over in Downers Grove has about 10-12 copies of Disgaea, new, for 49.99.

The thing is that, Disgaea was the first game in Atlus history to get a second release. I doubt you'll ever see a third.

i dunno....i finished the first disc of xenosaga 2(i meant 2, not 1) in 10 hours..so i may be done pretty soon. DMC on the other hand is sorda kicking my ass!

Either way, Estimated arrival of level 9999 characters: some time in the year 2016
 
i read in psm, that they were going to re-release this game, not 100% sure, but they should be re-releasing it soon, if anyone else has the magazine, it was either psm, or gamepro, they said that it was going to come out again. google to see if you can find more info.

Yeah, the first day of green tags I knew a TRU had it so I went out and got it.

I got it from TRU during the buy-2-get-1-free deal, which started right after the first 50% green tags. Since the last game rung up was the free one, I got two Disgaea's and a Paper Mario for $50.
 
I'm a huge SRPG fan, but I didn't see what's so special about Disgaea. It's pretty good, but I enjoyed La Pucelle more.
Speaking of Nippon Ichi projects, I'm now looking forward to Aletier Iris: Eternal Mana, which I think should be out soon.
 
i got mine today (3/2/05) at rhino for 40, but i traded in onimusha 3 (i bought for 15) and the suffering (which i bought for 10 dollars) and 24 .01 guides and got disgaea complete and in like new condition for 2.13 out of pocket.

If you keep searching you can probably find it for about $40 complete. I'd rather pay the 4 bucks to have everything, but it's your personal choice really.

FYI the strategy guide, if anyone is interested, is very hard to find. Only a few on Ebay, and they go slightly above list, and the ones on Amazon selling used are at ridiculous prices.

However, you CAN still get them from the doublejump books website (the publisher) for list price plus about $4 shipping. I ordered mine this past Sunday, got it Wednesday.

Is the guide any good? i like guides that actually provide useful info about a game, not just how to beat it fast and where all the secrets are.
