Disgaea reprints at Fry's $49.99
Is there any difference between the reprints and the original batch, or is it the same as their first couple runs?
I think there is no white strip at the top.

yeah all the new PS2 games or reprints now are just coming w/o the security sticker at the top.

That's cool that Atlus finally reprinted copies of Disgaea, but I still can't help but feel a bit flustered by the fact that even Fry's is selling copies for $49.99 each.

I mean, the game is quite old and should literally be down to at least $29.99, especially for a reprint, don't you think?

Regardless, this is good news for people who have been trying to find this game.

Personally, I don't plan on buying this for $49.99 + tax simply because it doesn't fall under my "If it isn't in some sort of collector's box or considered to be 'limited edition', I won't buy it for full retail price" policy which I have been abiding by for the past few years.

To date, the only games that I have actually paid full retail price for in the last couple of years were "Halo 2: Limited Edition" ($59.99, but I used EB games credit, which I managed to 'build up') and most recently, "Resident Evil 4: Gamestop Limited Edition" ($59.99 - Cash outta' my pocket unfortunately).

I'm sure Disgaea is a great game, but come on.... $49.99 for a reprint? Sure, it doesn't have that ugly ass "greatest hits" red bar on the top, but it's still a re-release of the original game.

If anything, I just hope that this re-release of Disgaea makes the going 'ebay prices' for the game plummet, so in the end, the game's overall price will decrease in value. That way, everyone can have a chance to play it.

the reprint Will not make the price crash, why does everything think this.. Disgaea has already been reprinted (hell i think this is the 3rd or 4th printing) and the vaule has stuck... within 6 months most all the copies will be gone and the vaule will go right back up IF and that is a MAJOR IF the price drops.

The reprint looks exactly the same w/o the sticker on top. There might be some small differences but I couldn't compare the new box to the old.

holy crap. I agree with slidecage for once.

The last reprintings of Disgaea did nothing to effect the price of the game. People are going to pay $49.99 for it, so why would Atlus re-release it for cheaper? People snatched them up then, and they certainly will again this time.

my Fry's has never been out of this game, ever.

also, WHY would a company drop the price of a game that sells this well?

if it was lagging, then they would drop it

supply and demand people.... economics 101
Does anyone know how many copies Atlus has sold to date?
Seriously, why isnt this game GH yet?

It will never hit the number required by Sony for an uber-popular greatest hits. Besides, Atlus barely makes money as it is (actually I think they lost money last quarter).

Ya'll gotta remember that Atlus' games typically only appeal to a select audience, whereas a game like Burnout 2 is a lot more audience friendly.

My Fry's recently got a ton of Disgaea and SMT:N back on the shelves. They also can't seem to get rid of all the DDS copies they have sitting there.
Well, got Disgaea but here's hoping some places start having copies of shin megami tensei noctourne again. :(
Don't listen to the whiners in this thread, though. Game Quest Direct is good stuff.

As for Disgaea, it's the greatest strat/RPG of all time. It's funny, innovative, and lengthy. I put 100 + hours into it with ease, and I have a hard time investing 15 into most games. Still getting it new at MSRP is awesome for those who don't have it yet.

There's a thread about this somewhere - but keep in mind that, at least last week, you could order Disgaea from outpost.com for $34.99 (plus about $7 shipping). I just got my copy yesterday - $42.20 shipped. The one I bought at Fry's is going back today.

It is not showing on the web site - you need to CALL and ask for it!
