DJ Max Portable hitting stateside Nov. 11

Oh hellz YES!

I have DJ Max Portable 2 and it has probably gotten the most play time on my PSP. It's about time the western world appreciated the awesome power that is DJ Max.

That's fantastic that it's coming out here, although since it sounds like it'll have a mix of the songs from 1 and 2, I wonder if there will be any incentive to pick it up if you already own both.

US PSP owners no longer have an excuse, though! (US PSP non-owners as well... This is one of the few games I'd say it's worth buying a system for.)

Fantastic news!! I agree with Metaly, the DJ Max Portable series is worth buying a PSP for. I always have one of them on me. Though I hope there is something new.. I'll buy it either way, that's a no-brainer, but I imported 1 and 2 so long ago.. I hope they throw in something fresh.

I hope it's more than just DJ Max Portable 1 and 2 songs... I'd like some new shit, too.

But either way, I hope they don't pull a DJ Max International and fucking censor some of the songs...

FINALLY! I really really wanted to play this game without importing. Lets just hope there is no popular US songs in here.

Soulja boy

I've been interested in importing DJ Max Portable for a while; now I don't have to!

This is definitely an immediate purchase. I have heard so many great things about this series.
I'm really surprised they are releasing it here. I expect it to not sell well just like how Beatmania flopped in the US
I think you're right to an extent. People are scared of new things (games that aren't GTA, Mario, or Halo) and since there aren't console versions of DJ Max out, it will be an uphill battle I'm afraid. However, if sites like IGN & Gamespot rank it highly, I could see it gaining some momemtum going into the holiday season.

Wow, I've been meaning to try the game out for quite some time... Good thing it's finally coming to the US so I can finally see what all the fuss is about. :D

Even hardcore Beatmania fanatics avoided the US release like the plague. The song selection was awful. I haven't played much Beatmania, but I've played DDR for years. If they had put even 10-15% of the song list as series favorite songs, I bet sales would've been better. A lot of my favorite DDR songs originated from Beatmania (IIDX), and it's a shame the US selection was so bad.

On topic: how does DJMax play? I just saw the ign video, and it looks quite similar to beatmania with less keys. I've wanted a good rhythm action game ever since I gave up on trying to beat TTFAF on expert on Guitar Hero III, and so far, this one looks like a go.

I'd rather they bring back the PC version. :(

I hope that Metro Project ends up including a revival of the PC version, because TECHNIKA looks lame as hell.

I've said DJ Max is the best game on PSP period, I still stand by it.

the gameplay is indeed similar to beatmania... but the way you actually play the game... omg it just feels so right. It's just amazing how a simple concept works out so well on the system.

as far as buttons, you can do 4, 5, 6, or 8 key, plus there's also an analog stick note where u twirl the stick around

Basically if you own a PSP and you've ever remotely enjoyed a music game, you should get this. Don't even think about it. It might also seem impossible once you first try it, but just keep working at it.

Also I sort of wish they'd get rid of the analog nub sections. It totally ruins the flow of a lot of songs for me, not to mention it's probably responsible for most of my broken combos even though I spin it like crazy. It's like the spinner in Ouendan. I didn't care much for that, either.

Yeh, it's beatmania with less keys (well, one more on 8 button mode, but 8 button kinda sucks). It definitely feels different from Beatmania, though unless you're pretty fanatical about those series, you won't see much of a difference.

Is this the original DJ Max Portable or is it a brand new one? I've been playing DJ Max Portable 1 and 2 on my psp for quite awhile now now so I hope it isn't the old one just being sold in USA

oh dang sum info on the next overseas DJ Max portable game is up on siliconera

http://www.siliconera.com/2008/09/0...s-korean-pop-group-for-a-new-dj-max-portable/

it says there are 2 portables, Black Edition and Clazziquai Edition

Clazziquai is one of the !@#$%^&* best music groups out of Korea period!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9ghlkveAS4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gynLVk9VacE

from what the article says, I think Black is supposed to be like the next main installment while Clazziquai version is like a smaller project or something. I donno but we'll see...

There goes most of my interest in DJMAX Fever. Hey everyone, skip that and import this new Black edition instead!

That last video sounds like a Sonic the Hedgehog song.

ok so I checked out the official website.

http://www.djmax.co.kr/

so the DJ Max Metro Project is pushing 2 new things at the moment.

One is the DJ Max Clazziquai for PSP, and they briefly mention about Black Square. The Clazziquai edition has a lot more than Clazziquai on it, they're jus using the name to sell more games I guess. It seems like another group, Humming Urban Stereo, is also gonna be on that group which has a somewhat similar style to Clazziquai except they kinda suck imo. (I like this group called Casker btw... blows every acid-pop korean group miles away)

2nd project is DJ Max Technika... an arcade game!

I'll just buy them all.

Yeah, I was looking through the ruliweb article after reading the article on Kotaku. It looks like:
Clazziquai Edition:
- Geared more towards the mainstream/casual audience.
- As such, the difficulty will be tuned more towards newcomers to the series.
- Doesn't seem like it will include the new features that are going to be in Black Square.

Black Square:
- Designed for returning DJMax Portable players. Leans more towards less mainstream/more underground artists. Many artists from the first two games may make a return (Ruby Tuesday and ND Lee are just some mentioned at ruliweb)
- According to the trailer posted at ruliweb (Which is the same trailer that's on the official site now), there will be the following features (Not sure which ones are new or improved, as the trailer only flashes these names):
New Game Modes, Expansive Fever System, Wireless Network Play, Dynamic Mission System, Advanced Album mode, Media Install Ready, Full Motion Video
- As JEKKI said, this one is likely to be considered the next main installment for the series, a DJMAX Portable 3, if you will, even though both of these new games are under the "Volume 3" label.

Those Koreans sure can put together an awful trailer.

Is there any reason to get this if I own 1 & 2 already? The "new series" in the trailer made it sound like there could be a few more songs, but I don't know if I'm that interested if it's more Brain Storm.

I hope it includes some new content or features, or at least an online ranking system!

I can't seem myself buying it if it just combines 1 and 2.

As for the trailer, they recycled a lot of stuff from older trailers.

So...

people are going to pirate this game, so lets cancel it halfway through development, and then nobody will be able to pirate it?

Brilliant.

Seems like the cancellation news is a likely fake or exaggeration ATM. Ruliweb took it down (The other link is just a blog), and looking at some of the posts on GameFAQs, while some downloads did appear, they turned out to be fakes. Thus, it doesn't seem like there's any grounding for any cancellation news of that type.

well it's not piracy of Black Square that supposedly caused this to happen,

it was piracy of Clazziquai Edition which just came out today.

Regardless hopefully this is fake... I did not wanna spend more cash this month but for DJ Max I didnt even hafta think about not dropping $50 like that
