Do I Need to Repair My System?

My Nintendo DS's 'R' trigger doesn't work at all. I tried spraying it with compressed air a few times, and that did not help...
Does anyone know of a way to open the DS up and fix it, or do i need to get it fixed somewhere?
(And if i do need to get it fixed by a store, where would be a good place to take it?)

Thanks in advance!

Did you buy this from a store or used?

if it's out of warranty and you want to try opening it up yourself you're going to need a tri-wing screwdriver. You can get one for less than $10 shipped and if you can fix whatever's wrong it'll be a lot cheaper than paying to repair it.

On the other hand, if it is going to cost to repair, I'm going to go ahead and say wait, save your money and get a DS Lite.

Its still covered by warrenty, and it was bought new. WHere would i get one of those tri-wing screwdrivers? Do they sell them at like an Ace Hardware?

if it's covered by warranty, contact Nintendo and they'll replace the unit or repair it for free. As soon as you open your unit up you've voided your warranty and any chance of a free repair/replacement.

I got my tri-wing from play-asia. Paid about $6/7 shipped, got it in about a week or two. You usually have to get them from a dedicated video-games store, mostly online.

Ok, to check your warranty, grab your DS, and find the serial numbers on the back. Then Click Here and enter that number into Nintendo's Warranty Look-Up Tool.

If it is under warranty your good to go. Just contact Nintendo and tell them what's up, they should send you a return label to send your defective DS back in, than they will take care of the rest.

If it's not under warranty, your kind of screwed and should just forgot trying to get Nintendo to fix it as it'll likely costs you $75 or more in which you might as well do it yourself and try to fix the problem.

Could you explain more of what you mean by the R trigger not working? Do you mean it won't click, it won't press down, it won't respond? Because there are different solutions to fixing each one, so knowing which one it is will give us all a better understanding of what's up.

Hey, thanks for the post .JPG.
It will press down, but wont respond at all in any game I play (GBA or DS)
