I've seen a couple that seem like they would be offensive , but I don't mind , it's not they are my desktop wallpaper . Different people have different opinions , imagine that .

Tis the season to shut the fuck up and stop being a whiny bitch and start worrying about more important things. :p

One should learn to practice what they preach.

It takes a whole lot to offend me, but there are some I would rather not have on my screen when I'm at work. But those were generally sigs so I disabled those.

Well someone had an avatar that was a women cupping her breasts and someone or somepeople complained enough that he was asked to take it down.

But the nice thing with sigs in Firefox is that you can simply disable them like I did to mookyjookies.

None of the avatars really offend me, but I worry about them offending someone at school, so I usually turn them off there.

None of the avatars offend me but I do worry sometimes when I log on CAG at work. I had to turn off the Sigs because some of them were becoming too sexy for the workplace.
Maybe you should... I don't know.... WORK at your WORKplace?
Wow. You seem in a pleasant mood today. Who pissed in your cheerios?
Maybe you should... I don't know.... WORK at your WORKplace?
Don't be jealous because I get to surf CAG at work and talk to hot babes all day. (in my best Kip Dynamite voice)

I do you dumbass, maybe if you knew how to read you would see that I have never gave a damn about people's sigs or pics.

Really? So when do you plan to shut the shaq-fu up and stop being a whiny bitch? I do believe your statement right there qualifies as you being a "whiny bitch".

I will never shut up and let the right wing, religous fundemental freaks like yourself win. You winn never win that easy.

Why don't you stop whining and let the country be free for all, that means free to people who don't celibrate X-Mas, free for women, free for gays, free for all and stop your whining?

So anyone can pratice their religion except for hard core Christiians? Sounds alot like anyone can marry except gays to me...

Considering how much of "practicing their religion" seems to be centered around forcing others to practice their religion too, no, they can't. That's not a specifically anti-christian thing, though: a lot of religious fundimentalists seem to think its their God-given duty to subjegate the rest of the world.

Exactly.

If your religion is to go to church and do shit fine, but when your religious views think that you are the god of the earth and everyone has to practice the same way as you then no you shouldn't be able to practice your religion.

If your religion is one that spreads hate and false views towards people then no we should not have to put up with it.

I don't give a shit what christains do in their home, but they seem to care a lot about what I do in mine.

Stay the fuck out of my house, and keep that fucked up religion out of my life and I don't care. But it seems most can't do that.

Someone seems to have delusions of grandeur.
Just for your information, I typically vote democratic, and tend to dislike extremism in all of its forms, be it radical or reactionary.
Just because I believe in ethics and morals does not mean that I am a "right wing, religious fundemental freak".
As a matter of fact, you don't even know my polical leanings.
You're just making a brash assumption, creating your own little world view, and swinging at the spectres and phantoms you've created for yourself in your head.

Any reasonable person, upon reading the bulk of your posts, would immediately divorce themselves of you and your beliefs. There are many other CAGs that get in raging political debates, and still manage to keep a pleasant outlook and not become a laughing stock. At the moment, that is what you look like. You look exactly like Zell Miller after the RNC.

Why don't you stop whining and let the country be free for all, that means free to people who don't celibrate X-Mas, free for women, free for gays, free for all and stop your whining?

What the hell are you talking about? Apparently, in that warped little mind of yours, you've made me the epitome of everything you seem to disagree with. That's just ridiculous. You don't even keep up with what it said, can't tell the differnce between real opinion and devil's advocacy, and what to brand me as everything you think is "wrong".

That's a simplistic, childish way of viewing things. Of course, from the way you carry yourself on these boards, I would expect no less.

Wow, that was arguably the fastest hijack ever.

David, I used to sympathize with you. But now you just ask for whatever comes to you. So please, as JSweeney suggested: heed you own advice and shut up.

impressive, all this from an old question about offensiveness of sigs and avatars. I disabled them for a while at work, but they've gotten better for the time being.

Considering how much of "practicing their religion" seems to be centered around forcing others to practice their religion too, no, they can't.

When it is forced, that is wrong. But those people are the minority.. which seems to be lost on some when they start thier own little sermons.

That's not a specifically anti-christian thing, though: a lot of religious fundimentalists seem to think its their God-given duty to subjegate the rest of the world.

I would say that depends on who's arguing it.
You do a good job in pointing out that it is fundamentalism that is the issue, and not christianity. You, Camoor, JMCC, and many others do a good job in that. David85, here, doesn't. He enjoys painting with a broad brush and arguing against caracatures he builds up in his head.

I don't know... I have seen second post hijacks before.
They're rare, but they have happened.

Back on topic, I generally see it as a moot point because the board software allows them to be turned off.
Of course, I've not seem anything that I've found offensive.
So usually, the sigs and avatars get turned off at work and then get turned back on at home.

Everyone has the freedom of religion in the US. You can choose whether or not you "buy" their "false beliefs" or not. They can really hate whoever they want. And they can recruit whoever they want. Have they done anything (in this case) illegal? No, they havn't. You sitting here preaching your anti-christendom is the exact thing you're claiming they are doing. You have every right to shut them out of your lives but they have every right to try to get into yours (within the limits of the law).

They have a right to freedom of speech and religion just like you do; just as a member of the KKK or a Nazi etc do. Hey, given the choice between allowing Jehovahs Witnesses to come to my door and being opressed and persecuted by a government I'd take the Witnesses.

Yes, I figured if they can spread their views on other people I have the right to do the same right back at the assholes.

My my. What would the ACLU say?

ON-TOPIC EDIT: I'd say generally the stuff people have in their sigs/avatars doesn't offend me, although at work it can be, shall we say, inconvenient for certain pictures that circulate on this site to be up on the screen. I'd advise keep it tasteful.

Why not simply disable them at work? That's what I do at school, even if its tasteful it can still lead to prying eyes.

You do, that's the whole point. If you have the right then so do they.

Yeah, if you don't like sigs just diable them...
