Do you keep the boxes for your Collectors Editions?

Envel

CAGiversary!
I don't mean a small box like for Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2 or Dead Rising 2.

I mean big boxes for games like

Mortal Kombat Kollectors Edition
Halo Reach Legendary Edition
Killzone 3 Helghast Edition

Well, yeah. It's kind of missing the point to get rid of any part of a collector's edition (unless you're selling off the pieces individually, for whatever reason).

I still have the outer shipping box that my Steel Battalion came in. So, Yes. I keep all boxes for the LEs CEs and whatever other Es there are.

Wow where do you guys keep them? I had no place to keep my Legendary box it was just so big and annoying. I had all the contents placed elsewhere so having an empty box seemed dumb.

I am in the same boat. Hope does keeping a cardboard box up the value.

I don't buy very many CE/SE/LE versions of games, but I still have the boxes for the few I do have(LBP 2 CE, GTA IV SE).

Buying a CE/SE/LE version of a game and then tossing the box because you 'have no room for them' should tell you one thing(don't buy the CE/SE/LE's anymore).

Good luck if you try selling any of these special editions without the box and/or extras.

2) Did I ever say I got rid of the extras? No.

3) Why buy a CE/SE/LE if I'm going to sell it? Of course I'm going to keep it I just didn't know people kept big empty boxes around unless they have a video game room/shelf thing going on.

For whatever reason, my room has a big walk-in closet. Its like the size of a full size bathroom to put it into perspective. So I normally put them there, along with all of my console boxes, shoe boxes and other random crap. Basically, its my storage area.

Why would they be empty? I keep everything that comes in the CE in the box except the game.

But why besides reselling purposes? It's kinda mind boggling. I bought a Resistance 2 CE for the game and goods. I'm not gonna stop buying CE because I don't want the boxes.

I keep them. Stuff like the box from the Reach Legendary just goes to my dad's to be put in the attic or something.

I still have the statue with me though.

Because it's part of the CE. If you get rid of the box the CE is no longer whole, and as far as I'm concerned, not really a CE anymore.

So my Halo Reach statue and Mortal Kombat bookends should just sit in the box? If people pay extra $ for that then I don't know what to say lol. Unless they are sealed, that's a different story. But if the box is open and the video game isn't in there I don't see why everything else should be.

But for things like Dead Space 2 CE, and Assassins Creed Brotherhood CE, things like that I keep everything in the box. Pretty much any box big enough to have a statue is one I'll probably dump because I will display the statue.

I always keep the boxes to everything I own (electronics, collectors editions, computer parts, etc) for at least 3-4 years before getting rid of them. Keeping my original PS3 box helped me net an extra $60 in trade in ($140 without box, $200 with the box) at Amazon at the time. The boxes don't have to take up a lot of space. If you are short on space, start using the boxes to store items or store boxes inside boxes. You can also fold the boxes down and save the most space. I can't imagine that you don't have room for a few flattened boxes.

For me it depends on the box. I think the Halo Reach Legendary packaging is pretty nifty, so I've kept it. The flimsy Black Ops Prestige box, on the other hand, held little interest for me. Sure I could flatten it, but even then it wasn't worth the clutter to me.

At the same time, I have every box of every console I've owned going back to the Atari 5200. Not sure why since I'll never get rid of the consoles themselves, but at least the boxes are good for storing other stuff.

Keep the boxes?? I don't even open them, so of course I'm keeping everything;) And each time I've moved, I've made sure to find a place big enough to allow me an extra bedroom, until recently, so I got the biggest storage unit PS had at the time and put them in there. Plenty of space left....

Keeping the boxes has the added bonus of having a place to put the item back when you're moving. We keep all our boxes for that purpose. If it takes up a lot of space then just flatten the box.

Like everyone else here, I keep all of my boxes for everything. My setup currently has the game cases pulled from the boxes and they are integrated into my regular collection however I've got all of the oversized boxes displayed on top of my main shelving unit. So far, that's working out pretty well and until I run out of room, that's where they'll stay.

For the extras that are in the boxes, I have them displayed on the shelf as well. All of the statues and little figures are all pulled out. I'll take a picture when I get home tonight and post it.

I still would like to see a pic ;)
i havent bought any CE's except infamous 2. do they normally go up? im assuming they do because its CE
If you mean up as in up in value, then fuck no. The majority of these pieces of crap are usually just made for people to have something purty to put up on their gaming swag shelf.

Very few of them are true 'collector's editions' and 'limited'. Matter of fact, most of them are overprinted to the point of being super common, so much so that you can still find them in mass quantities for quite a long time after their release.

flattening the CE boxes is genius. I never would've thought of that lol. Thanks for the tip!

I finally got all of my lowball orders in, so I'll take a picture tonight when I get home. I've got to do some rearranging anyway to fit in the new stuff.

It may be a week or so late, but here are the photos. I had to do some rearranging to fit all of the boxes at the top of the shelf. God help me when I get more. I won't have anywhere to go.

Here is the overall shot. You can see the boxes and some of the collectibles at the top, the first shelf with some more of the collectibles and the two Fallout CEs(they fit in the shelf height wise, but not width) and the second shelf starts the games and Blus/DVDs.

Here are some closeups of the top shelves.

So that's how I fit my oversized boxes and collectibles into my collection.

Now the reason it looks so dank in the pictures is that my collection has to be displayed in my basement because it just wouldn't fit in the living room. Most of my house is decorated with antiques and they just wouldn't fit in with the decor. My plan for next summer is to finish the rest of the basement and turn it into my mancave, so I don't have to keep my collection out of sight.
