Do You Still Watch Power Rangers?

CAGiversary!
I'm finding myself liking the Power Rangers SPD. It's pretty good!! I think I've watched every season since the original!

I watch the oldies (Mighty Morphin, Zeo, Turbo), sometimes for the cheesiness, sometimes cause I'm bored.

Also, on HBO the other day, the guide said 'Up Next: The Power Rangers Movie'
And for some reason, I said "I have to watch this..."

I loved Power Rangers as a kid. I bought all the toys I could find and watched every episodeof the original series and even after they converted to shogun ninjas or whatever. I stopped around age 13.

I recently have watched Power Rangers Generations (was going to make a topic about it) with Tommy back as the black ranger, and it's pretty good (yet very cheesy) entertainment. I haven't bothered to watch SPD, Dino Thunder, or Zeo.

I never got into power rangers, but maybe I'm too old...

To paraphrase Snoop Dogg, "I treat Power Rangers like 7-Up. I never have, I never will."

I watched the first season... I'm not sure if I really did like it or not. The only action figure I had was Eye-Guy.

I was a Big, Bad Beatleborgs man, myself.
If I catch reruns of any of the old stuff up through Zeo, yeah, I'll stop and watch. Otherwise, nah.
Ditto, although I watched SPD today and it has the same kinda, "vibe" I guess as the original, 'cept it isn't early 90's style ahaha.

I was a fan of the original japanese "sentai mask" from, oh say... 17 years ago?

The power rangers that came out in the US just reused their old outfits and baddies...

I watched it all the time up to about half way threw Lost Galaxy then I stoped watching it till Dino Thunder (The series where Tommy Comes back) After that I got hooked on the series again and went off and downloaded all 13 season of Power Rangers. SPD was pretty good, I liked how there was conflict between some of the Rangers It was a nice change then seeing them all best friends.

After watching them all I liked them in this order:
Power Rangers in Space (6)
Power Rangers SPD (13)
Power Rangers Time Force (9)
Power Rangers Lightspeed Resuce (8)
Power Rangers Dino Thunder (12)
Power Rangers Turbo (5)
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1-3)
Power Rangers Wild Force (10)
Power Rangers Ninja Storm (11)
Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (7)
Power Rangers Zeo (4)
I watched them when I was a kid but it's too cheesy for me now. One second....Tommy's back???
Yeah, that's why I tuned in. He plays "Doctor" Tommy Oliver/the black ranger on Generations. Well, it was listed as Power Rangers Generations, but it was that Dino Thunder stuff. I don't think Generations is the name of an actual series.

I'll watch some of the seasons (Space, Zeo, Time Force) but i'm a much bigger fan of the Japanese shows the series are adapted from.

One of the funniest things I have is an episode of MMPR dubbed in Japanese. It's a Japanese show, adapted into an American show, then dubbed back into Japanese, you have Japanese actors dubbing over their own lines sometimes. Funny stuff.

my three year old god-son Really Really likes Power Rangers now. I was too old for it the first time it boomed, plus, yanno, it never really appealed...
But now I'm the coolest because I bought him the first season DVD for his bday.

I watched it a few times when they made that big deal about the one power ranger chick that posed in playboy.

I laughed for a good five minutes when I saw Tommy playing a College Professor on my television screen while flipping through the channels the other week. Every time I see that guy the "Dragon Flute/Dagger" song gets stuck in my head for like 15 days.

The original green power ranger was the greatest! Still remember the dragon flute thing too, just so.........awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I too am very interested in obtaining the original power rangers seasons on DVD. You must gimme link now....

You mean Amy Jo Johnson (the original US pink ranger). :bouncy:

I used to watch the original. I was too old by the time other ones came around.

I remember one time my friends caught me watching the first one. I was kinda too old for that one too so it was kinda embarrassing, but a few kids I knew in school still watched it so I was still sorta in that age range, but not really.

I only like first seasons (from thunderzord to about shogunzord I think?). Zeo suxxed, Space was okay, after that it wasn't great.

Damn, I didn't know there were that many seasons of it.

I stopped after/during Mighty Morphine. I didn't even watch the other ones.
Wait...what?
lol, sorry to dissappoint, what I mean by that is it's the first 4-5 episodes of SPD. Found it at a Toys-R-Us for less then fifteen bucks.

edit: the OP has what looks to be "volume 3" in his sig.
You mean Amy Jo Johnson (the original US pink ranger). :bouncy:
There's a local legend I heard while in high school that claims Amy Jo Johnson has a summer house in my town.

Why the hell is "Tommy" so damn cool? I mean, he started on the show and everyone else instantly sucked in comparison. That smooth bastard.

hol shit... tommy is back as a ranger??? must download now!!

yea i just read up on it.. he came back in dino thunder... i had heard he came back as a ranger as well but i gues i just forgot....

Amy Jo > any other Power Ranger in history, let's just go ahead and get that out in the open.

That said, I haven't been a fan since way back in the day when I watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. That show didn't take long to lose my interest, but hey, it was still awesome at the time. I would probably get a kick out of getting the original on DVD, if for no other reason than to see my girl Amy Jo in her prime.
I watched it a few times when they made that big deal about the one power ranger chick that posed in playboy.
Which one posed in playboy? I'm pretty sure it wasn't anyone from 'Mighty Morphin'.
I know the girl who played Maya in 'Power Rangers Lost Galaxy' was the Foreign Exchange Student in 'Not Another Teen Movie' maybe thats who your thinking of?

oh and Patricia Ja Lee can kick Amy Jo Johnson's ass any day of the week.
Patricia Ja Lee = Best Pink Ranger EVER.

I'm gonna have to disagree there. Not only is/was Amy Jo significantly hotter, but I'd wager that she'd also win in a street brawl (with no weapons or trick moves - other than the occasional vagina taunt [some call it a trick move, I say it's all in good fun]).
I stopped after/during Mighty Morphine. I didn't even watch the other ones.
Wow, you must've stopped watching because the Morphine rangers were so drugged out eh?

I think I was at the age that thought that the power rangers were cheesy when they premiered, and before you mentioned it here was entirely unaware of their continued existence.

Only thuy trang, the yellow ranger, ever put on a dominatrix suite. No one can top that.

I was too old to get into the original power rangers. But I like Godzilla type stuff so I could watch it from time to time. How many seasons were there ? Also I always wondered how they kept the story line going. I mean how many different robots/type of power rangers exist in the world ?

There are 13 seasons going on 14 this February.

*Spoilers with in*

Mighty Morphin threw Lost Galaxy (Season 7) were the only ones that really connected. After that each series stood on its own. Power Rangers in Space was the last series where the Morphers and Zords came from Zordon. In the last episode of Power Rangers in Space Zordon was killed along with every single badguy from all the previous seasons, with the exception of Lord Zedd and Rita who were turned human because their love for each other was pure and good. Lost Galaxy was the last season to have Alpha and Bulk in it (Skull had left in the first episode of Lost Galaxy). Each series after did do a little connections with a one episode team up with the previous series so you at least knew its all taking place in the same universe. Wild Force did a massive 10 Red Ranger team up that really connected every single Power Ranger series together. Every Red Ranger from Jason (MMPR) to Cole (Wild Force) teamed up to finally defeat the last of the Machine Empire (Zeo) and Serpentera (MMPR) But Dino Thunder was actually the first series since Lost Galaxy to really connect back up with the original series. But after that SPD went back down the path with each series standing on its own.

For all your Ranger info needs I recommend this site:

If you want some links to a couple Torrent sites to download some of the series feel free to PM me.

I'm not sure how old "too old" is for Power Rangers. I watched the original up to the point when the white ranger was part of the team.

From there, I really didn't watch it all that much.

The SegaCD power rangers game is probably the closest you can get to the series on a digital medium
