Does anyone have the new slimmer slim ps2?

CAGiversary!
How are they? Any benefit to the newer one?

Is it more stable, better quality? I'm assuming the lego batman ps2 is the new slimmer slim.

Also, I only have the old old ps2 which lasted me like 5 years already. I heard that the old ones have tons of problems, are the slims or the new slims more stable, longer lasting?

I'm thinking of getting a backup for my 200+ games.

I got the Lego Batman bundle and it does indeed have the 90000 series PS2. It is a bit smaller than the previous slims and is very lightweight. The reset button is sort of a pain in the ass to hold down in order to shut down the system because it is very small and partially recessed into the main body of the system. Overall the system has done its job well thus far but I've only played probably a total of 10 hours on it since it came out. I don't really know if it is more stable or better quality than previous slim PS2s. This one is my fifth PS2 of my life but they didn't all break. In summary...

Near launch fat PS2 - Broke after 3 years, then again, I may have broken it while drunk. Absinthe is a hell of a drug.

Old, metallic blue JP PS2 - Still alive and kicking after almost six years. My import-playing machine.

50000 series fat PS2 - Worked fine for 3 years, I sold it to help pay for a 20gb PS3 before they vanished.

70000 series slim PS2 - Worked fine for ~1.5 years, I sold it to help pay for my PS3.

thanks, so you had like every ps2 in existence. I really want to get this ps2 but I don't want it to be flimsy and break after a few months because they put tons of cheap parts in it to make it cheaper and more profitable.

is the power supply built in?

Look in the thread on the PS2 90000 series, I posted a few pics there. It is indeed a very durable system, from what I can tell. They've been around for almost a year now over in Japan, and I haven't heard of any complaints about them busting. I got mine around launch, early last month before the lego batman bundle. It now has about 20 hours on it total, and the main thing I noticed about this system, is that it produces barely any heat at all. You can feel a tiny bit coming out of the rear vent, and the bottom of the system sometimes will feel slightly warm, but the rest of the system feels room temp at all times. It's the same size as the former slim, with a few new cosmetic changes that make it look a little better. my only complaint: The U.S. didn't get the ceramic white system, the sexyest looking one of them all, in my opinion. Perhaps in a few months, but I'm afraid thats more wishful thinking.

yeah the new ps2's are so small and advanced, they won't generate heat. Much like my psp doesn't generate heat. If it weren't for the size of the DVD, they could make a ps2 the same size (if not smaller) than a psp. Whatever heat you are feeling is being generated by the PSU.

Didn't know they were out for a year in japan. I'll have to check out your thread thanks!

There are probably far less chips and parts which can fail in the slim ps2s. I shouldn't be surprised it's almost 8 years since the old ps2 came out. Technology has come a long way. I wonder how long until the ps3 looks like a slim.

the biggest worry is that if you tug on the controller, the system is so lightweight it will probably fly off the shelf.
