Does Final Fanasy Legend (Original Game Boy) = Final Fantasy I?

I remember playing Final Fantasy Legend around the time it came out for the original green screen Game Boy and I was thinking of getting Final Fantasy I for the PSP to maybe play i again with upgraded graphics. Then I started thinking though, is it the same game, or is it based off a different FF game since it doesn't have Legend in the name?

Final Fantasy Legends weren't even actually Final Fantasy games. They were part of the SaGa series in Japan. So, no, Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy Legends weren't the same.

Interesting enough Final Fantasy Legends 2 and 3 (Saga 2 and 3 in Japan) got DS remake. Saga 2 actually got a English translation patch.

It is not am official release, but a fan translation patch
