Donkey Konga 2 - $19.99, Donkey Konga $29.99 at Best Buy

Nice find. I'm probably going to pick up Donkey Konga 2. For $15 it looks awesome. :D

Nice! This will get me the second set of bongos I was looking for. Too bad this wasn't Jungle Beat. I would rather have that then DK 2.
Wasn't this $19.99 with Bongos at Target, though it was YMMV?

Either way, good deal since the Target one was YMMV :D

Thanks OP!
It was 14.99 at Target.
Such BS... why is Konga 1 still so expensive?

You think it would be the other way around.
konga 1 is more expensive because it comes with a drum, konga 2 doesn't...

I recently bought Donkey Konga 1 with Bongos from my friend for $10. I think I'll buy Donkey Konga 2 for $15.

How do you guys/gals use the GGC? Do you buy it first and then use it? Or how?

Last time I wanted to buy Metal Slug Advance for $5 cheaper and I got an expired GGC $5 off coupon. I was pissed since it took a while to activate the card and I had to use it since I had put $5 on it. Sorry for the 'noob' questions. Feel free to insult me... *cries*

1st locate a gift card with the $5 coupon on the back. Then take it up to the register and "buy" the card by putting some amount of money on it, as little as 1 cent. Then just ditch the card (or keep it if you put a signifigant amount on it) and present the coupon at the register and they'll apply the discount.

Konga 1 was never released w/o bongos?

Damn, that sucks.

Konga 1 was only released with the bongos, since it was the first one out of the gate and the Pelican ones hadn't come out at release time.

DK: Jungle Beat came out with and without bongos, since it came out after DK 1.

Konga 2 came out with and without bongos, for the same reason as DK: JB.

I think SilverPaw was talking about the clearance sales? I was able to pick it up for around $20.48 a while back. Wasn't $14.99 the price for the Targets that recently had a grand opening?

Try to put a few bucks on the gift card, since you will be using it anyway.

I just went to BestBuy.com 10 minutes and now I try to get back and "401 The web site is blocked by administrator".

Thanks Final Starman and rperez.

This is another dumb question but I didn't see any answer around here. Donkey Konga 2 is available for $19.99 in store correct? (if so, I'll go tomorrow)

If it is, I'm gonna purchase the GGC and put $5 on it since I'll be using it. Then I'll pickup DK2 (if available for $19.99 in store) and purchase it with the GGC & the coupon.

P.S.: Do I need to carry cash in order to put money on the GGC? I never carry cash, just my debit card. Again, sorry for sounding like a n00b. I just haven't really done this.

Such BS... I guess I'll have to get it used from EB / Gamestop and hope that it's cheap.

The downfall of getting DK 2 w/ bongos for 14.99, I guess, since DK 1 has the better soundtrack selection by far.

Yeah, DK2 is available for $19.99 in store, and you should be able to use the GGC without any problems. What you're planning to do sounds fine. I would use two seperate transactions, one for the GGC and then one for DK2.

If Best Buy takes debit cards, you shouldn't have a problem. I purchase gift cards with my credit card all the time.

Keep in mind that not all Best Buys carry the GGC. Some include them while other ones don't (maybe due to abuse of people buying a whole bunch and just putting a penny on each one, I don't know). If you don't see one around the videogames check up front by the registers where some of the other gift cards are. That is where I found some one time. They are the lime green gift cards.

Also, if you ever plan to purchase any PS2 games from there, just use one of these coupons, no need to buy a gift card then! I used it to get Taiko Drum Master today as well as DK2 (two seperate transactions).

Thanks again rperez1025. Yeah, I'll do seperate transactions and my BB does carry GGC.

I wish Jungle Beat was also $20. I want to use my Bongos. I haven't used them yet since I just got Donkey Konga 1 with bongos for $10 from a friend.

I'm also waiting for a price drop on any great PS2 RPG or Action Game. I have 3 $5 off any PS2 game coupons.

Thanks again!
DKa 1 is sold out... now that the fucking site is "working" grr....
well i have an extra copy of DK1 seal if anyone wanna trade with DK2 if you pick it up.. let me know.. thanx

I picked up Konga 2 today, before seeing this thread. I think the song selection is better on this one, but it just depends on what you like.

(Also found a complete copy of The Misadventures of Tron Bonne at EB for $2.89 today!!)

Sorry, that wasn't needed, but I am very happy... ^_^

Went to BB this morning to pick up Taiko Drum Master ($15), and thought I would see if they had DKg2. They had the boxed w/Bongos version for $19.99! I'm sure it's very YMMV, but if you go to BB and don't see a game-only copy, chances are they'll have the boxed version and it'll be the same price.
wondering if i should jump on jungle beat now or wait for a drop
I played a bit of Jungle Beat, and it was good. I think I'm still gonna wait it out...at least until it hits $20.

anyone else get this also?

Just got back from BB to scope out the situation since I was nearby on my lunch break. DK2 (game only) and Taiko DM were both marked at $20. I had them scan DK2 with Bongos, but they rang up at $49.99.

I just got back from BB as well. I saw the first DK w/ bongos for $29.99, and the price under DK 2 w/ bongos read $19.99. I grabbed one DK 1 set and two DK 2 sets, and the DK 2s rang up $49.99. After someone checked the price, it was adjusted down to $19.99, and w/ three GGCs, I got one DK 1 set and two DK 2 sets for $55 + tax :)

My friend won't believe it when I give him the other DK 2 set as a gift, thanks again CAG :D

Question: are two sets of bongos useful? Since all I've seen of the game is the in-store demo, I'm not sure if there is a multi-player mode, and if so, if it requires separate sets of bongos.

We have 2 sets of bongos, they come in handy, you could potentially play the game with 4 people and 4 sets of bongos.

One pair of bongos per person. And I believe the multiplayer is way better than playing single player for the Kongas. Luckily, a lot of people I know own their own bongos, so I haven't had to buy any extras!

Sweet... maybe I'll get lucky and find both games with Bongos for cheap. Certainly worth a shot. Worst case, Target might still have the bongos for $15.

As stated by Rig, each person needs their own set of bongos. GC controller extension cables are also recommended, since the cables attached to the bongos tend to be a bit short. I have three sets of them, and I'd like to find a cheap fourth set, so this might be a way to do it, depending on the trade in value for DK1.

You got DK2 with bongos for $15?

I gotta check this out ...

I definitely did :)

YMMV on this deal, since the price in BB's computer for DK 2 w/ the bongos is marked as $49.99, but the tag on the shelf read as $19.99. If that tag is in your store, make sure someone checks the price when you take DK 2 up to the register.

I have DK with 2 sets of bongos . . . my daughter likes it.

I can't bring myself to pay $15 for DK2 . . . for DK Jungle Beat, yes . . . but I don't need more cover songs for the drums . . .

Are their any other changes in the game?

So is $25 (after GGC) a good price for DK1? Unfortunately it looks like all they have at my BB is DK2 w/ bongos (stickered at 49.99) and DK2 w/o bongos (no price, but presumably $20). My best bet may be DK1 w/ bongos if I can find it for $25, and more bongos at Target for $15.

Are there any changes between DK1 and DK2 other than the music? Thanks!

I'll go to Best Buy later today. I hope I can get DK2 with Bongos for $15.

I thought BB didn't have $5 off $20 coupons on giftcerificates anymore for video games. Did they start printing those again?

And btw I got a set of Bongos from CircuitCity for $20.
