Just got back from the Best Buy @ Cedar Hills Crossing (aka Beaverton Mall) in Beaverton, OR. They have the Dead Rising 2 Zombrex Edition for $34.99 for both the 360 and PS3. I picked up a 360 copy, roommate picked up a ps3 one.

FYI, there were 2 360 copies left on the shelf, and 3 PS3 copies in the cage by the checkouts (no ps3 copies on the shelf). (don't know about any more 360 copies in the cage).

As well, the regular edition Dead Rising 2 trades in for $25, in-case any of you CAGs would be interesting in trading up (which is what I did ).

Enjoy.

meh none of my stores even have it in stock. Finished the PC version recently and loved it. Would like to get the 360 one.

I actually just came from BB looking for ALan wake and mafia II CE's... Alan wake wasn't marked down as people were saying, plus they were all crushed due to shitty spider wrapping (why do stores use that crap!)

I can confirm that the Dead Rising CE's were 35 bucks. Unfortuantly my store was out of the 360 versions =( All they had were like 5 or 6 ps3 versions, which i didn't want. Everything i read showed the 360 version was the superior port. Good comparison was here:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-dead-rising-2-faceoff

quote near the end:

"On the one hand it is very difficult to avoid criticising the developer for not giving the PS3 version of Dead Rising 2 the same sort of love that the 360 game clearly received. Clearly and measurably we have a conversion with a big resolution hit and mildly toned down visuals that still can't match the Xbox 360 game in terms of basic performance. It's not often that we see a PS3 version so technically behind these days, but Dead Rising 2 is something of an unfortunate exception."

grr i need a 360 copy. I bought one at gamestop a few weeks ago because it was mint for 50 bucks but i gotta take that back. i was hoping id fine one

That's a pretty scathing comparison for the ps3 version. As I recall reading, while ps3 version's lighting wasn't as sharp, the frame-rate was uncapped so it ran (arguably) better than its 360 counterpart, which was capped at ~30fps (though really more like 25fps; REALLY bad slowdown with fire/particle/smoke effects filling the screen).

Anyhow, this is the first time any of the BBs around me marked down a CE/LE that people on here were saying dropped to $35 @ their local store.

Would've loved to get in on the Fable 3/AC:Bro/Alan Wake collector's editions, but alas, Dead Rising 2 is the only one that hit the magic $35 price point around here.

Is the websites availability tracker to be trusted? I was going to run out and check the BB in my area for this but all are showing up as 'Ship to Store' and none are 'Available Now.' Is this pretty much a sure sign that I would not have any luck or is this usually off for such old items as this?

Couldn't hurt to check. I know for a fact that sometimes the availability tracker is off sometimes, stating they're OOS of things that the store actually has. However, in the case of this, the in-store tracker indeed said there were 360 copies of the Zombrex Edition in-stock @ my location.

So...it's a crapshoot.

scathing to the ps3 version? I suppose, in that it just points out the flaws. Thats not the only comparison. Every one ive seen shows the PS3 version as being inferior in pretty much every way. The only bonus is it has slightly fewer framerate dips, but thats because they disabled Vsync. Its not that the 360 had a capped framerate. Its that the ps3 version was running so bad and even with all the visual compromises they made, like the lower resolution, loss of post processing effects, lighting effects, ect, they had to disable v-sync to get it to run smoothly. Id rather have a couple dips than tons of screen tearing.
another comparison is here:

and it comes to pretty much the same conclusion.

Dont feel too bad about the Alan wake drop. My store still has them for 45 bucks, plus they spider wrapped them all, so theyre all basically crushed and worthless to a collector. I cant stand when stores do that. Luckily DR2 was in those plastic boxes, but like i said for my store, there were no 360 versions at all, just half a dozen ps3 ones =(

Ken you are teasing me about Alan Wake drops heh I'll make a trip over to my local best buy and see what price points their CEs are now. I know my store over in MS had DR2 and Alan Wake for sure but being home in FL this week I don't know what the market here looks like.

Wasn't calling it out for being unfair, necessarily. I do love the digital foundry head-to-heads though.

Just want to say that people shouldn't hesitate to get the PS3 version if said gfx comparisons were holding them back. After watching my roommate's ps3 copy in action, the differences are negligible when you're playing it.

I do concede that if one has both systems, get the 360 version.

So I went by BB to see if they had any copies left of dr2 and I lucked out with the last one they had!! It was indeed 35 bucks. I also decided to ask about the Alan wake special edition and that was marked down to 47.99. I didn't pick that one just yet. Im holding out a bit longer for that one.

Thirty something is really my price point for Alan Wake but if I start seeing it disappear I want it bad enough to buy now. Definitely something I need to keep an eye on!

I am in the same boat. I decided to hold out because it's been sitting there for a long while already. It helps that the sticker price is still 59.99.

The PS3 version does have bad screen tearing, I see it every time I play. Still, really fun game. Worth it for $35 for the Zombrex Edition.

ya i guess if PS3 is the only console you have its not unplayable or anything. But if you have both systmes, the 360 version is superior in every way pretty much. Hell i passed up buying this because i want the 360 version. I hope to find a copy soon. Other than the other problems, the biggest is probably the screen tearing for me. I HATE that in games

were your copies of Alan wake in those shitty spider wraps? Out of all of them there was only 1 that wasn't too badly smooshed from those. the others were crushed to hell.. i really dont get why stores use that shit
