Well my 360 is now a 15 lb. $400 paper weight...

it's less than 6 months old.... and it won't read any more disc... would pop in a disc.. system would say reading, then eject tray.. tryed everything... disc won't even spin in the drive when reading...(cause u could hear dat)

called microsoft... and the rep agreed on faulty drive. and since it passed 90 days, so the repair bill is $130...

arggghhhh...

anybody had a simlar problem?

only put in about 20 hr. a week on the system, so it doesn't get dat much play...

I am so worried mine is going to crap out after hearing all of these horror stories. Is it too late to buy the warranty? This is just unbelievable - there seems to be such an unusually high rate of failure for these things.

Try detaching your hard drive and loading a disc - I think this is how Scorch fixed his (or realized that his hard drive was causing the DREs). It's worth a shot and $100 for a new hard drive is sort of better... but not much...

call them up and get a warranty, they only ask for your serial number.

Fixed.

I would get one on Oblivion (as well as extremely annoying lockups after sneaking in Oblivion being invisible, never saving, getting a shitload of great loot, only to get a DRE for my troubles on loading after closing the gate). Clearing the HD cache would help for a little while, but I ended up getting a new Oblivion disc and have much fewer problems.

Have you downloaded any demos or media of any sort? I've heard the same thing about the HD having something to do with it, and demos would make the original box do things like this. I'd clear everything off of it but game saves, and see what happens. Otherwise, I agree with the above post: demand a warranty.

Scorch isn't having DRE's, Scorch is having whole-system-lockup issues

Yeah I have that same damn problem. System works great on everything except Oblivion which crashes every 1-2 of game play.

My friend had DRE with a brand new copy of NBA 2k6, he exchanged it and never had a problem again.

Not ethical but you could always exchange it at a walmart without a receipt.
