I've been studying abroad for a little over a week now in Japan and have made a couple stops to pick up games. You may remember I posted a thread on this board looking for recommendations and advice. Thanks to everyone that replied, I'll be looking to grab a lot of what you guys mentioned. We've been in Hikone, which is a pretty small town, but we're taking a trip to Tokyo this weekend so I'm sure I'll have some fun there. Here are my purchases so far. I used the conversion rate 100 yen to a dollar, though its actually about 106y/$1.

Donkey Konga 1 & 2 w/drums (GCN, new, $73)
Nintendo Puzzle Collection (GCN, used, $19)
Giftpia (GCN, used, $29)
Electroplankton (NDS, new, $48)
Namco Collection (PSP, used, $20)
Pikmin Soundtrack (new, $12)
two King of Fighters games for the Neo Geo (new, $5 each)
Puzzle Bobble game for Neo Geo (new, $5)
the newest Famitsu, even though I cant read Japanese ($3.50)

I bought the Neo Geo games from some little toy store in town. Cant really tell too much about the KoF games except for one has a 2 on the art and the other has a 3.

Score. I hope you have a Neo-Geo to play them on. :)

Nice buys, especially Nintendo Puzzle Collection. I wish I could go to the used games stores in Japan... Don't forget to buy some capsule toys and eat ramen :)

Sounds to me like the Neo Geo games might be either Art of Fighting or Fatal Fury games.

All of the KOF games have been numbered by year (not including the forthcoming KOF XI), so I doubt that they're part of that series. But remember, almost every KOF character was originally in AoF or FF.

Hmmm, youre probably right there Gameboy415. Theres no English writing on the artwork, I just recognized the Bogard brothers on the packaging and assumed King of Fighters. I leave for Tokyo tomorrow with about $600 in cash plus a credit card. The day after we arrive will be dedicated to Akirabara.

Just got back from a weekend in Tokyo. I spent about five hours in Akihabara and probably came out about $400-$500 lighter. I'll post everything that I got probably when I get home from Japan, but it was definately a cool experience. Its been tough trying to transport everything across the trains, on my bicycle, etc though!

The one thing that did suprise me was the high price of game soundtracks and CDs in general. I never found any used soundtracks, but I wound up getting Ico ($15), Rez ($25), Katamari Damacy ($25), and a Mario Compilation ($20) brand new.
