Making this topic for people who want to talk about whatever. Post your collections, talk about how ugly the blue ds is, etc. I'll get us started.

Some DS games I can't wait for:

New Super Mario Bros.
Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers
Dig Dug: Digging Strike
Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Katamari Damacy (Hopefully)

I'd also love to see Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo ported to DS, but that isn't likely  Ooooh or maybe Pocket Fighters! But if anything, that'd goto PSP sadly.

Another thing. I was kinda let down by Kirby Canvas Curse. Yeah it's a fun game, but it gets old. Draw some lines, tap an enemy, draw some lines, hit the block..... What do you guys think?

there's actually no reason to port super puzzle fighter 2 turbo to the ds... it was already ported to the gba. a port to the ds would not only be unnecessary, but also inhibitory. we'd most likely get the game with butchered up touch screen controls.

now maybe a new version instead of a port might be ok... but really, there's no reason for a port...

do you really think the electric blue ds is ugly? i personally like my blue ds.

i actually did get pretty bored of kirby canvas curse after beating it twice. i put in maybe 4-6 hours. i didnt want to go through all the rainbow runs and whatnot to get more medals...

that's the same with mario64ds though. i didn't really want to go through and get the rest of the stars. just seemed too tedious... and usually im someone how likes to get 100% unlocked (did it a few times with castlevania aria of sorrow)

nanostray is a pretty hard game. I was all gung ho for the leaderboards online but have come to realize those guys would smoke me playing upside down, with their eyes closed AND using their toes.

I really want a Mech Sim that has complicated controls that utilize the touch screen (in a good way).

I picture the top screen showing the action in a cockpit (think Steel Batallion), and the touch screen looking something like this:

mech8mw.gif

The yellow squares would be push buttons, with functions like open/close cockpit or wiper spray.

The orange rectangles below them would be slide levers, for controlling forward/backward movement and things like that.

The red rectangles would be weapon selector switches (like nanostray).

The big blue square would be an aiming screen. When you touch the stylus in there and move it around, it would move the cockpit in the top screen (think metroid prime hunters).

L trigger could fire weapons, and you could still map additional lesser used functions to ABXY.

The Dpad could move the camera within the cockpit, so you would be looking around inside your mech, but your mech wouldn't be moving (unlike if you steered with the blue screen).

I really think this could work well for the unique capabilities of the system.

After playing Street Fighter II Turbo Revival on the DS I realize the D-Pad is pretty great for fighters. I'd love to see a Street Fighter Online. I seriously absoutely without a doubt would love to see Starfox 64 or something similar to it on the DS. Get rid of the crappy foot missions and give me some classic Starfox. Heck I would even settle for Starfox 1+2 (SNES). Yes 2 was never released but we all know it was practically finished. I'd also like to see a 3D Spider-Man similar to the N64 version. I liked Spider-Man 2 and I will probably like Ultimate Spider-Man but a full 3D version would be cool too.

As for the DS itself.....it has quickly become my favorite handheld of all time. I think I have already played it more than any other handheld I have owned to date. The screen is great and it is easy on the eyes.

For me a big selling point of the DS was the "one in the chamber, one in the clip" concept -- the fact that you can have a DS game and a GBA cart in the system simultaneously. I know it’s not a big deal to some, but being able to have two separate games on hand without having to worry about where to keep game y so that I can slap it in when game x becomes a drag really appeals to me. Currently I’m barreling through Meteos and Riviera. Both games are great, and totally different in regards to graphical style, gameplay, and concept, and thanks to the DS they’re both always there when I have a few minutes (or hours) to kill.

I absolutely can't wait for Nintendogs to come out next month. It's likely not going to be as popular here as it was in Japan, but it's been getting great reviews, and there has definetly been quite a bit of anticipation for it. So I'm not only looking forward to playing it, but it will also be interesting to see how it sells here.

I just got a DS yesterday after trade-ins, had a coupon for 40% more trade in value + 10% with value card from Gamestop, so I just picked up a DS. I really like it, I never had a GBA of any kind so its like two new systems in one for me. What GBA games do you recommend? And oh yeah Trauma Center...I totally forgot about that one, that should be cool...but Nintendogs....cant wait!

I exploited the Gamestop coupon to my own wicked ends, as well. :D

If you like tactical games FFTA, both Fire Emblem Games, and both Advance Wars games are great.

If you like a more traditional RPG, try Golden Sun and the sequel. Riviera is a new release, but it got plenty of buzz around here.

If platformers are your thing, the Castlevania and Metroid games are sure to please.

Mario Kart is a great little racer, and most of the Mario games are pretty damn good.

Enjoy your new DS!

the one release that I think would be a hit if Nintendo would invest some time into it is that band brothers game (can't remembr the name) where you play different insturments... the simple games look kinda neat too.

I also am look forward to pheonix write and lost in blue... I have about 8 or 9 games I am really lookign forward to on the DS.

and did anyone else hear, there's going to be a sequal to Feel the Magic XX/XY... it's called "Where Do Babies Come From? (no joke), I guess it's another dating game, but with sexual situations a bit more abundunt.

I thought rhythm games didn't do to well outside of Japan? And I believe the Japanese name was "Daigasso Band Brothers."

I expect November to drastically boost DS sales. Mario Kart, Mario & Luigi 2, Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney, Animal Crossing, Trauma Center, and others will all move the system well.

Personally, I'm looking for Lost in Blue at the end of September. I'm not much on RPG's, but that sure does look awesome. Jump Superstars is also tempting, but I may have to import Prince of Tennis: Crystal Drive 2005 first.

Trauma Center, Metroid and Trace Memory are my most anticipated games for now.

I don't play my DS games much right now, besides Meteos, but I play GBA games every chance I get. I didn't own an SP, so I've been buying GBA games left and right.

Wasn't the one on GBA kinda lackluster? And Capcom said they wouldn't be making any new 2D games IIRC.

The blue ds comment was just an example of what to talk about.

I can't wait. Feel the Magic was the best launch game for the DS and is still my favorite DS game period
I'm a big Nintendo fanboy but I have no intrest in the DS.
I love my GCN much more than my PS2 and I like the PSP.
And you're posting in this topic why?

I don't see why people are going to get Nintendogs, it looks like another boring pet game.
Wasn't the one on GBA kinda lackluster? And Capcom said they wouldn't be making any new 2D games IIRC.
hrm. i personally thought it was perfectly fine, the GBA one. who said it was lackluster? i play the gba one the same way i play the arcade (mame) one with my friends. nothing feels different.
I don't see why people are going to get Nintendogs, it looks like another boring pet game.
i would think this game appeals a whole lot to the people who really enjoyed games like Harvest Moon. the reaction was probably same for Harvest Moon. "what? isn't it just a boring farm game?" simcity actually probably got the same reaction too. I personally am looking forward to the game a lot. speaking of nintendogs, did anyone see the feature for it in Nintendo Power's September issue? man it made me want the game more.

Well I am not all excited about Nintendodogs. but I wills ay it seems deeper than just a pet game were you walk to dog all day.

I hated Sims but my wife loved it so maybe she will want this darn game.

I have a huge can't wait list for DS (katamari on ds is one I really want).
But on a different note, I finally have the top scores on all versions of ZooKeeper, my fiancee is too busy with Meteos to take back his crown. ^-^

Played the Nintendogs demo at Walmart last night.
I'm a pretty old fashioned gamer, my favorite games usually have deep/complicated gameplay, are very hard, or lend themselves to hog wild competition well... but I must say, after a few minutes with that demo, a game that seemingly has none of my three favorite qualities, I find myself inexplicably desiring my own copy.

I've seen trailers for the game online, and I'm amazed to say, that the dogs look even cuter in person.

There are too many games coming out of the DS... and I must have all of them! Nintendogs will own. At first, I was like WTF is this? But when I saw the game being demoed at GDC, I was amazed! I thought it would be some stupid Pokemon-ish crap but these dogs are so.. realistc in their manners.

With online play!

AngellicLuLu's Okami sig and avatar and since we're talking about the DS, I just thought up of a good question.

Why isn't Okami coming to the DS... it would be perfect for the DS as drawing is part of the gameplay.

I've loved my DS since launch day. I own 10 games already and August is when the big games start rolling in. Although the DS already has way too many games that I want coming out, I do have one concern. The type of games I like/buy are usually made in Japan and it seems like there is some form of reluctance in bringing some DS titles stateside. Here's a list of games that are already out in Japan with no news of coming stateside:

Hey! Fight! Cheer Squad! (Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!)
Naruto RPG 2
Band Brothers (+ expansion)
Goemon
Naruto 3
Brain Training
Egg Monster Heroes
Gentle Brain Training
Jump Superstars (most likely not coming stateside)

For certain games like Jump Superstars, it's fine and i'll just have to import it. However, other games like Goemon and the Brain Training titles aren't very import friendly. I guess Nintendo of America feels that we'd have more interest in Pokemon Dash than a game that boosts our IQ.

Guys when you buy a Nintendogs, do all the versions have the same shit and you just need to unlock it? I want to know cause I'm gonna do that eb deal.

Edit: Also which should I get, Yoshi's Touch and Go or Pac Pix. Both are $30 and I'm leaning towars Yoshi's.

You can unlock everything in all three versions of Nintendogs. As for Yoshi or Pac, i'd probably go with Yoshi as third party games tend to get price reductions much faster.

Yeah I'm waiting on a price drop on Pac Pix, Mr.Driller, and Kirby. Also I would love to get my hands on an English Play-Yan. I hope Nintendo announces something soon.

There is a good chance that when Naruto airs on Cartoon Network (and likely blows up stateside) that they will bring over all sorts of Naruto games.

They do have a game coming out called Ultimate Brain Games, wouldn't be the same thing, would it?
Yeah I'm waiting on a price drop on Pac Pix, Mr.Driller, and Kirby. Also I would love to get my hands on an English Play-Yan. I hope Nintendo announces something soon.
I really wasn't a huge Mr. Driller fan. It was pretty addicting at first, and also pretty challenging, but it was just so limited in single-player modes. I, personally, got tired of it very quickly.

I've never been a huge handheld gamer, but I love my DS (have a PSP too) and the four games I'm most looking forward to are on it.

New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart
Animal Crossing
Sonic Rush

I'm loving Meteos right now, and my wife loves Zoo Keeper and Yoshi Touch-n-Go (and she' not a gamer at all, maybe Iwata is on to something).
It's not the same, but the Ultimate line is pretty good. I guess my Top 5 most wanted games (that are coming stateside) list would be:

Trauma Center
Phoenix Wright
New Super Mario Bros.
Trace Memory
Nintendogs

I want the new Castlevania... everything I saw about the game just screams: awesome! And also, Lost in Blue which looks like one of the most unique games on the DS (watch the trailer for it). Of course, there's Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros., Mario and Luigi 2, and a whole lot more.

I'm hoping that I get some money soon. The first thing I'm buying is a DS!:D

I was under the impression that Band Brothers was going to get a US release as Jam With the Band, but as time goes on with absolutely no news on the matter, I'm seriously thinking about importing it.
It's likely with a US release, the game's soundtrack would be much worse anyhow (though at least the Fullmetal Alchemist songs have a chance to stay).

When is Jump Superstars coming to the US? I need to keep track of it! I want it mucho.

I'm just waiting for Nintendogs right now.

edit: Oh, and Ultimate Brain Games and Card Games. I'll be so addicted to those.

Jam with the Band is probably in the same place as Electroplankton wherever that may be. My guess is NOA will release it when there is a lull in the calendar e.g. Winter/Spring 2006.

I am looking forward to Nintendogs, Lost in Blue, Lunar, Castlevania, Trauma Center, Pheonix Wright, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Trace Memory.

I wish SquareEnix would make some additional announcement as well. Another poster mentioned Egg Monster Heros. What about the other rumored games Final Fantasy III remake, Final Fantasy CC, Mana game, Full Metal Alchemist, etc. C'mon Square give us some info! I would think they would release a couple of these games for the holiday season.

Whoa Lost in Blue looks cool. Hunting and making fire and shit. I can't find screens of trace memory but I'm only lookin on EB. I still think the Trauma game looks great. Ima get it at launch.

pt_922120_20050620_screen001_2510rs116.jpg

Well, "Lost in Blue" isn't it sort of a sequel to...man I forgot the name "Lost Kids"? Where they are shipwrecked also and you must make fire, and make weapons out of things like a stick and a shell and stuff like that.

It does look nice though.

I'm looking forward to Nintendogs, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles DS, Castlevania DS, Mario Kart, and Yu-gi-oh Nightmare Troubadour.

I dunno...I don't play the card games or anything, but my friends little brother taught me one day when we had nothing to do. It was quite interesting. Well, he had the 2006 tournament game, and I really got into it. So, I'm really looking forward to Yu-gi lol

Yeah, seems like it. I just ordered Electroplankton, so I suppose Band Bros. is next on my import list.

Definately looking forward to:
Nintendogs (my copy should supposedly arrive in a few days :D)
Sonic Rush
LUNAR: Dragon Song
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Lost in Blue

And of course the new Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and the like. Too bad there weren't this many great titles coming out at launch last November, but the coming lineup is certainly shaping up to be stellar. There are certainly more games coming out that interest me on the DS than any other current console/handheld so far. That's not to say that I don't still enjoy the others, though. :)
When is Jump Superstars coming to the US? I need to keep track of it! I want it mucho.
It's not gonna happen... In Japan, all of the series characters in JSS are owned by one company. But here in the US, each series is lisenced by a different company so getting all of the characters would require the publisher to lisence each character from each lisence holder.

Damn people. Mario Kart? I been played that on 64. At least Double Dash had some new stuff. That Jump Superstars looks like a fighter gone wrong with that card crap.

Electroplankton is supposed to be coming out in NA on Nov. 14th.

Survival Kids for the GBC. I had completely forgotten about that game.

Is that an EB/Gamestop release date or Nintendo? I just checked the Nintendo site and it still says "to be announced". I know Metroid Prime Pinball just got an October 24th release date from Nintendo.
I love Mr. Driller...on Dreamcast or in the arcade. It just wasnt fun at all on DS (Stylus or D-pad)
I agree, I especially found the touch screen control to be very imprecise. It's too bad, that game could have been a lot better.
