Hello, I think that this was answered in the FAQ in the OP, but it was mostly in bits and pieces of other questions instead of in just a single area.

As long as you have a U.S. PSN ID setup and connect from the U.S., it will access the same and have access to the same services as a typical U.S. console would.

In short, yes. ;)
 
 
I'll add that I currently use a Japanese PS3 with an NA PSN name. I have no issues playing anything, nor do I have issues connecting to people to play. All cables are the same, all games play the same (I buy mostly NA games, of course), the only thing that changes is the region of the DVDs you can play and the function of the X/O buttons (which change accordingly in most games, but certain ones hard code X to be ok, such as 3D Dot Game Heroes, or various PSN games). Small side effects include Rock Band being funky with calibration - it says hit Green, but you need to hit Red, etc.

My only problem is that now I'm so used to the swapped X/O, I will have withdrawal issues going back to an NA system when I replace mine. My friends bitch at me every time they use it though... :D

In the end, I just couldn't turn down tlp's offer of forwarding boxes to me at no cost.
What is basically a year's supply of shipping being taken care of right up front is probably the best deal I can get.

A few of the other offers were tempting, but of course, some things like the systems would have to be flipped as shipping them here would cost quite a bit.

The offers with mostly software from my want list were actually the most tempting, but looking at the size of my backlog, I just know that anything I get would lose a ton of value by the time I get around to playing it.

Finally, getting the packages from tlp, will hopefully get a whole bunch of those wants to me over the next year anyway. :D

Grats to tlp. I wanted to participate, but since Sony removed the PS2 backwards compatibility, I would have had to keep my launch 60 model hooked up next to it and couldn't justify owning 2 PS3s.
