If you don't have a blog or myspace profile, that's fine just set up a custom feed devoted to your favorite products. Spam? It's in the Contests & Free Stuff forum! How is it spam? It's a real giveaway. If it's obviously spam, why I am giving away a PS3 and responding on the forum?

It's pretty simple then

Register at earlymiser.com to be entered in the Playstation 3 (60 GB) giveaway.

To give something away I need an address - hence the need for registration. How else should I give it away? I admit I can sound less spammy but it's a real giveaway. Don't want to be entered in the drawing? Fine don't register - although if noone is going to enter, that makes your odds of winning pretty good doesn't it? BTW the way my registration form allows you to opt out of the mailing list while still being entered in the contest, which I can guarantee won't happen in most online giveaways.
 
You have issues my friend. Serious issues. Don't want the PS3 - don't register. My gawd I just say a serious thread on this site in the contest & free stuff section devoted to celebrity photos - which are always free.

At least this is relevant to the site - it's a free PS3. A PS3 was/is pretty hard to come by depending on what part of the country you are in. How many pieces of "spam" have a phone attached? Very few - In fact almost none I would say.
 
Yeah, this isn't typical spam. The guy is

1) responding to posts

2) posted it in the correct forum

3) is obviously the owner/operator of the website having the contest.

Give the guy a break. the OP looks like typical spam we get here all the time, but it isn't.

Thanx - it's true. For the op I just cut and pasted the announcement from my site. That's probably a mistake since it sounds reasonable at the site but doesn't quite sound right on the forum. FYI I have 2 PS3's (I kept one for myself ;-) and bought Call of Duty 3, Resistence : Fall of Man and Marvel Alliance as my first games. Any other recommendations?

No problem. Looking over the rules for Contests and free stuff by Cheapy D(head of this site) CAGs (you) can post their own contests as long as it's free, which yours is, so everyone just got a little excited about the Spam thing. It's no different than all the contests in the giant thread we have about all the sites offering PS3 and Wii contests floating around here somewhere.

Those are probably all the best games out right now sadly...Motorstorm looks good but it's not out yet.
 
I looked at it and was trying to judge by the number of titles remaining at the local WalMart super center which ones were selling. Therre weren't a lot of those left so I thought maybe it was selling but I couldn't bring myself to buy yet another RPG/fighter game.


I actually intend to contribute since the PS3 is the first console system I have bought in literally years. (I bought a PS1 and that was the last time I played console games). Most of my gaming is of the PC variety.

bad move. I now do understand that you are right, but the presentation was bad... a bit too spammy. next time don't cut and paste... better to link to contest and comment on it while saying the full rules are in the link/site.

Since you like PC games I'm surprised you didn't get a 360. Anyway yeah Resistance is pretty much it.
 
and I still might. I wanted something to work with my HD set up and I thought the blu ray drive would be a nice addition. As a result I missed the whole experience of Halo and Halo 2. On the other hand most of the games available for the 360 are also available on PC so no real advantage in getting a 360

Next time I have a contest (and I plan on having them monthly this year) I will simply link to them from the forum with an announcement of what we will be giving away. It's typically gonna be gaming stuff or bundles of games.

I think most of the 360's best games aren't on PC...Gears of War is one example.

Thanx - maybe a 360 purchase is in order. Of course my TV only has two HDMI interfaces.
 
The reason a lot of people thought it was spam was the use of a bunch of links, a Free PS3 in the title, and the use of a phone number.

Ok I can see the Free PS 3 and the bunch of links as being spammy but the phone number? I run plenty of forums and none of the drive by postings have phone numbers. I put the phone number and my name to make it less spammy. Oh well. Next time it will look a lot less spammy but I am still putting the phone number in there.

If people don't have a web site or a blog - they can link to the site from their myspace profile. It's entirely optional as you can set up a feed of your favorite products instead.

The 360 has component output, not HDMI

As a note, a couple of typos were in the confirmation page after registration.

Also adding sub categories would be great. An example would be to add dvd boxsets under the dvd category.

Subcategories are done on the test server. I haven't had time to push them to the live site. Thank for the catch on the registration page, you look at those things too long and you just can't see the errors.
 
Just an FYI I realized I didn't post the giveaway date. You can sign up to midnight PST on January 25th and I will be doing the drawing on January 26, 2006 and announcing the winner that day.

The last person to promote his own website on here with contests frauded everyone that went there. I won some of the contests, and he just closed the topic and wouldn't respond to me. He shut down the website soon after.

Well I am not really sure how to answer that - I have spent a lot of time and money developing the site. I am certainly not going to shut it down. " The last person?" - don't you really mean the last person whose contest you entered? People announce contests here all the time.

Look the press release is going out this week. I didn't build a meta shopping comparison engine so I could scam some people at cheapassgamer.com. If you had bothered going to the site, you would see it's a lot more than just a place to sign up for the giveaway. That's a sign of quality right there.

So when you say frauded, you entered a contest and the guy didn't send out the winnings right? Well I already have a PS3 so I am not keeping this one I bought specifically for the giveaway. So enter if you want. I am not begging you to enter. If you want a shot at a PS enter. If not don't.

It's not like he's asking for a credit card and social security number. It looks legit, and it's not like you have all that much to lose if it's not.
 
The giveaway is this week. You have until Thursday January 25th to enter. Just thought I would update the thread.
