We just had an earthquake minutes ago here in Riverside County, California. There was another one on Sunday morning, but for some reason, we didn't feel it at my house. This one shook the shit out of us, though. It was my first ever earthquake experience, and I was a little startled.

Does anyone have any interesting earthquake stories?

Mine's only interesting since I live in Wisconsin.

yea, i felt this all the way in huntington beach, it was pretty strong here

what i thought was funny was that my friends decided to IM me, instead of hiding under the table...you never know!

I'm in L.A. and I felt it too. I was playing Guild Wars at the time, I thought it was the "BIG ONE" so I ran out and left my game. I remember my first earthquake was the Whittier Narrows one in 1987, that thing freakin scared me and I ended up throwing up the pancakes I had for breakfast.

felt it here in Orange County. Me and the wife were living in No Cal when the Earthquake hit in Frisco in 89. I remember everybody was trying to get out of the office to go catch the World Series and all of a sudden bam. That fucker hit really hard.

i was in san francisco in 89, that was a big fucker. i was like 5 and i was scared shitless. i can probably remember about 10 or so earthquakes in the east bay when i was a kid

I felt it here in LA. I though someone messing with me by kicking my wall but then I saw the news and was like "That was an earthquake?". I then proceeded to do a Mrs. Krabapple "Ha!".

^_^

The earthquake from last Sunday, I was up in Riverside for UCR graduation. Did you hear about the "moving" speech part when that earthquake happens? That was the best part!

Oh, as for the earthquake today, not too long ago, I felt it. I thought it was an earthquake, but I wasn't sure. Hahaha.

The Earthquake today was just enough to freak the shit out my cat, but that's about it. I didn't bother to get up to get under a doorway or anything. I always figure it'll be over by the time that I get there.

On the otherhand, I was living in the San Fernando Valley when the big 1994 Northridge quake hit. That mofo destroyed a ton of shit in our house and lasted for what seemed like a few minutes. Our place was full of broken glass (all of the picture frames fell from the walls) eggs, milk, orange juice (the refrigerator rattled opened and the contents came flying out), and gallons of water (our water cooler fell over and shattered). Clean up was a BITCH!!! :bomb:

i was eating at sizzler when the earthquake hit today. i didn't even feel it, but some of my friends did.

I live in MN so nothing ever happens, no floods, tornado's, earthquakes, dust storms(haha idaho).

I felt it but it was pretty weak. It didn't knock anything but it was still crazy. The Northridge earthquake (94 already mentioned) was a fucking monster.

No floods or tornadoes in MN? :whistle2:k
I dunno about where you live, but I guess the rest of the state must have missed that memo ;)

Well, once I was in Taiwan. It was pretty late and I was playing Yahoo Pool with someone in the U.S. Now, I have a fan on, one of those that are on the ground, and ceiling fans. The monitor started to shake and I'm like, okay I guess that fan is a bit strong. So I went to turn it off and the fan started to shake. After a minute, I realized the monitor was still shaking. Living in florida, where the only natural diasters are Hurricanes, I'm not used to earthquakes. I type to the person I'm playing:

"Uhhh, I think I'm in an earthquake right now hold on..."

Then I'm thinking, WTF it's impossible to have an earthquake here......oh wait, this isn't florida. Anyway, it was a weak one (where I was at), and I won my Yahoo! pool game!

My first quake experince was also the 87 one. My father was walking me to school, when every fence around us started to shake. It completely freaked us out not because we thought "Earthqauke" but because we didn't know why everything was shaking, we didn't actually feel anything. When the shaking stopped, we finished the walk to school, a bit bewildered but unafraid. And he left me there. He told me later that he went all the way back home and turned on the news before he realized what happened, and that he needed to pick me up.

i remember the 89 quake in the bay, that shit rolled, i remember everyone in our court like came out of there houses and we were all like "uhhh did you feel that shit" (but i was little back then so i didnt say shit and grown ups were talking not me)

i felt sunday's morning one and today's, it wasn't all that bad. i was sitting down both times, and felt this slow shaking. didn't think much of it though, i just think there'll be a big one coming soon.

I actually live in Moreno Valley, off Box Springs Road, a few miles outside of Riverside. I haven't heard of any good YMMV deals around here, sadly.
