EB Games now accepting 3DS Pre-Orders

Ask the employee to search for "3DS Hardware".

Price: $299.99
Release Date: March 20th 2010

Both are probably placeholders

Minimum deposit is $25.

Just spreading the word so you can get your name on top of the pre-order list before everyone else unless you want to wait like 3 months to find one because like the DS release, its very likely there won't even be enough copies to meet the pre-orders.

Thanks OP.

Just pre-ordered mine. Most employees don't even know it's in the system yet. If you pre-order today or tomorrow I imagine you'd have no issues getting one on launch day.

I'll undoubtedly wait to see what the actually MSRP is, and what trade-in offers they'll be offering. Otherwise, it will be much more likely I'd pick it up from one of the mom n' pop shops, a few days in advance. ;)

Man, I'd jump on this if it wasn't EB. Just don't trust buying a console from them. What if there's a dead pixel or some other issue?

My original launch DS had a dead pixel and they replaced it for me without any issues.

Thanks for the heads up.

They had enough systems during the original DS launch for exchanges? I wonder if that'll be a problem now since there's a lot more hype for the 3DS. Hopefully the March date will prevent shortages.

I imagine that Nintendo has already gotten foxconn in full mass production mode of 3DS's to try to meet the demand. They know that there will be huge demand for the 3DS with the success the DS; and peoples reactions at this years e3.

I got it first thing in the morning and tried it out almost right away when I got to my car. When I noticed the dead pixel I went back and they had 2 left that were unsold and not pre-ordered to they gave me one of those. Since videogaming has grown so much in the last 6 years I imagine they will have a lot less to go around for the 3DS launch.

BTW, the system is about $300usd in Japan but supposedly the price in North America might be as low as $250.

They do not let you pick a color, as they do not know which colors will be available. I assume if there are multiple colors they will probably call you to find out which one you want.
What did it launch for in Japan, $350? $300 is too steep, will wait for it to come down.
25,000 Yen in Japan approximately $300 US.
i'll wait til Best Buy gets their pre-order info going...at least they'll give some reward zone points back
You get $3.75 back.

Oh yeah that's right, the analysts predicted that it would come down to $250 for the NA launch.

I went ahead and preordered mine. I might not like Eb games much, but only having to be their on midnight or the next morning sure beats having to line up overnight like I did for the Wii launch.

It's funny when you know more then the clerk.

Me: "I'm here to put a deposit down on the 3ds"
Clerk: "Um...we aren't taking preorders on the 3ds yet."
Me: "Yes you are check your system for 3ds hardware"

The surprised expression on their face when they found it in the system was priceless.

I'm on the fence about preordering one. I may play it safe and at least deposit the minimum amount. I don't plan on actually playing 3DS until Mega Man Legends 3 comes out. I'm not going to buy one at launch if MML3 comes out after the redesign that we all know is going to happen. If it comes out relatively close to the launch I'll get one then.

If I don't pick it up I would get my deposit money back, correct? I know that's how it is for games, not sure about systems though.

Don't quote me on this, but just keep your receipt for the pre-order in a safe place and you shouldn't have a problem getting your deposit back at any time before its released.

My local GameStop required a $50 deposit with the claim it had to be that high due to the present $300 price point, though clearly others here have pre-ordered for $25.
