Thanks for posting. That's good to hear about Donkey Konga. A GS employee I spoke with said they were supposed to be selling them soon in a bundle similiar to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

Looks like I'll be heading to GameStop on Christmas. Do you know if the Donkey Konga deal includes an extra set of bongos? Otherwise I will have to head over to K-Mart and pick up one of the $5 copies of Jungle Beat.

i can say yes, since the same deal was going on for black friday. i ended up trading in the xbox, 3 random crap games, and getting the premium 360 w/ prp and CoD2 for $280.

Hell, IMO, I don't think so.

I'm disappointed by it.

I paid $54.00 (yes, I know, I should be more of a CAG) for the GS exclusive collector's edition (and got 2 of the artwork pieces), but the game as a whole leaves a lot to be expected.

remember MKDA and MKD? Remember how cool those chaining combos with the 3 different fighting arts were? Well in MKA, they reduced it to only 1 martial art style and 1 weapon style. Lame. Really lame.

What about those individual fatalities that were exclusive for each character in MKDA and MKD? Cool right? Well now you can create your own fatalities, but that means that there are no more exclusive fatalities for each character.

Another big let down is the ending for each character. In the previous MK current-gen games, you at least had a nice piece of artwork to look at once you finished the game with a certain character. But in MKA, all you get is text that is spoken by the narrator with your character at the top of the pyramid (last stage, where you beat the final boss) doing the EXACT SAME martial arts form every time, no matter which character you use!

The only redeeming features that MKA has are the "Kreate a Kombatant" area and the "Motor Kombat" mini-game. You can also unlock Ultimate MK3 as a bonus, but if you already have UMK3 in a previous form, you won't need this version.

Overall, Midway got lazy and wanted to simply release the game in time for the holidays. If you're a die-hard MK Fan, by all means, $19.99 is worth it, but if you liked the previous MKDA and MKD games and are expecting more of the same in terms of the fighting aspect, don't buy it until you can snag it for about $10.00 or less. If you can, try to see if you can get the collector's edition of the game instead, as you can at least enjoy the extra disc which features a ton of profiles for most of the MK fighters.
 
Btw, a GS employee, when I inquired about a Donkey Konga w/free extra bongos sale, said that there's NO WAY it would be for Donkey Konga since the original game was discontinued and they have tons of DK Jungle Beats. He said if anything, it'd be a further discount of DK Jungle Beat. We'll see who's right on December 26th.
 
Just because it's been discontinued doesn't mean that the company doesn't have thousands they found in a warehouse somewhere.

And this week I got the last DK: JB at a GS near me (there are 3 on the same road within a half mile). They had stacks full last week and nothing this week. I talked to some girl who worked at GS and she acked if I knew if Jungle Beat was any good. We both agreed it didn't matter for $15 and that seems the case.

It is DK: Jungle Beat that will be on sale (still :roll: ), Not Konga
 
This has nothing to do with the actual sale, but I never have liked or done the after christmas shopping thing. I mean after christmas it seems like a slap in the face to everyone who got you gifts to be like "Hey, thanks, but I'ma go out and buy a whole lotta other crap too.." kinda demeans the whole spirit of the season

You can get that deal RIGHT NOW with a coupon that's available at some EB/Gamestops.

Seems like most of these deals are just more of the same again-same stuff we've been seeing the last few weeks.

Jungle Beat is a REALLY good platformer though-I'll keep saying it! Really original, looks fantastic (at least it did on my good SD TV), and it's sort of physical. The boss fights are especially awesome and physical...sort of does make you feel like a big mean ape physically beating the bongos to pound away at them :D

WolfPup I was shot down by 3 places because they said the coupon was over (12/14/06) It sucked because was going to trade in a PSP and GC for 165 and the xbox after the 25 for total of 245 playing 155 for the xbox360 + game + plan. O well went to GC and just did the 50% trade in.

I got the ad and will type it up tomorrow. Sorry its late and I'm sleepy. Don't have a scanner so I can put scans up.

Well, if this sale is online too, then I'd be happy to pick up Half-Life Episode 1 and C&C Generals fancy schmancy edition for $20 since I've got a $15 Gamestop gift card. That's just insane that DK Jungle Beat is only $10 next week plus it comes with free bongos. I might as well pick it up again (just got it for $15) just for the extra bongos and sell the new game at a used CD/Game shop.
 
So Wii in Stock on December 26th at EB and GS? $9.99 for those GameCube games and Jungle Beat are ridiculously good. I may have to pick up the Jungle Beat bundle, although I don't think I have room for two more drums (I already have two).
 
JungleBeat and the GCN games are crazy for 10$. My Guess is they are just clearing them out to make room for the PS3 and Wii. I going to be getting JungleBeat, Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem. GCN and PC have the best deals on the ad besides the 360 combo.
