Ebay auctions being inflated by bots?

/facepalm. That would be the legit thing I'm not seeing...lol. I've been away from Ebay for awhile, is that newish?

Yes, I believe they only started doing it a few months ago.
 
Yeah, they did that in reaction to a bunch of scams that were taking place because people would pull up bid history and fire off messages to the losers (sometimes winners) of the auctions claiming that they were the seller and had 2 of the item and were offering to sell you the second at the winning price. Sometimes, they would claim that the winning bidder backed out and they were then offering it to you.

I received one of those emails one time when I had won the item.

Are you sure that's why? Because once the auction is over I'm able to see the full names of the bidders. It's only hidden while the auction is taking place.
 
That's what ebay was saying when they put the change in. It was part of their effort to combat the second chance emails. /shrug
