A restocking fee? Makes sense, especially companies launch systems by holiday so people can enjoy during the period, it seems like hardly anyone who actually played PS3 during the holiday, instead they were molested at someone else's homes for over a month. IMO, PS3 launch was ruined, Sony should've just launched in March 07 instead.
If Sony launched in March 07, they'd have a more difficult time selling at launch (look at PSP), because it isn't the Holiday buying season (many people besides hardcore gamers are still broke then). The only people who would buy it is gamers or people looking to buy a birthday present for someone. Although the launch could have been better, it would have let MS get a bigger lead and allow for Nintendo to make an even bigger impact. Also, Sony would get more negative press for delaying PS3 again. The PS3 did need more time to launch, but waiting was only going to hurt PS3 more.
Yeah, I saw a 20 gb PS3 in my Walmart today and the box looked a little "molested". The funny thing was as I was looking at all the games for various systems, everybody just passed by it and never seemed interested in it. Not a good sign for Sony.........
The average person doesn't have $500 on them. There were people who wanted a PS3, couldn't find one, so their money went to Christmas shopping instead.
I saw one PS3 60GB returned at Wal-Mart, but I saw it disappear quickly. Toy's R Us had two 60GB ones, but the only people who were there were parents with kids. If it was a 20GB model, I'd buy it.
