Ebay returns have begun...

Walked into the local Walmart and picked up a 60 gig PS3. Said it just got returned because they "couldn't make a $1000 on Ebay." So be looking for your scalpers wall of shame at your local Walmart with their heads down.

After seeing some of the pictures, make sure you sanitize the box before opening your PS3, who knows what naked body parts were rubbed against it as a lame attempt to "market" it for eBay.

Yeah, I saw a 20 gb PS3 in my Walmart today and the box looked a little "molested". The funny thing was as I was looking at all the games for various systems, everybody just passed by it and never seemed interested in it. Not a good sign for Sony.........

Spotted a 20GB at my Target today. I figured it was a return, because I couldn't believe it made it through the holidays w/o getting bought.

Hopefully the Ebay scalpers will remember this the next time Sony/MS/Nintendo release a console and let the gamers who want the systems buy them in the stores.

Nah, those people just couldn't manage to get overtime like Krazy Kaz told them to do to be able to afford it.

I remember preordering mine with almost zero wait and making over $500 profit. Scalping isnt going anywhere, just hope that your average joe no longer feels a need to do it because of the risk (such as myself.) Also note the Wii prices.

I still want one for myself too, but I cant bring myself to drop $500+ on a console.

Hmm...I just passed on a Wii because it's box was pretty beat up, looked like it had been opened. I hadn't considered it, but I wonder if it was a return?

I wish those scalpers could be punished somehow. It's no fair that they got to keep a system for free from someone who wanted to play it, and then they return it (essentially used) with no penalty.

Aren't they still new? Scalpers aren't opening the boxes right?

They could be and you'd never know. I'm probably a bit weirder about this than most, but I don't want to buy hardware someone's had home for a month as "new".

A restocking fee? Makes sense, especially companies launch systems by holiday so people can enjoy during the period, it seems like hardly anyone who actually played PS3 during the holiday, instead they were molested at someone else's homes for over a month. IMO, PS3 launch was ruined, Sony should've just launched in March 07 instead.

It probably just came in that day. Sony's been getting regular shipments out, and most stores around here restock at least one or twice a week (but usually sell out by noonish).

The problem is I like that you can return it. Maybe they need a lie detector test if you take it back to see if you're a scalper. Fail and you get a 30% restocking fee :D

As bad as a March 07 launch sounds, I have to admit it probably would've been better than this.

at worst buy in plano, tx one of the store employees was carrying what looked like a return back to the shelf. The box was scuffed up a bit.
The saddest part for me is that this will mean the end to the Ebay Scalper's Wall of Shame.
Not quite, there are still 8,000+ PS3s on eBay. Some people just don't get it. A good example is this hoarder.

The only people who would buy it is gamers or people looking to buy a birthday present for someone. Although the launch could have been better, it would have let MS get a bigger lead and allow for Nintendo to make an even bigger impact. Also, Sony would get more negative press for delaying PS3 again. The PS3 did need more time to launch, but waiting was only going to hurt PS3 more.

I saw one PS3 60GB returned at Wal-Mart, but I saw it disappear quickly. Toy's R Us had two 60GB ones, but the only people who were there were parents with kids. If it was a 20GB model, I'd buy it.

That was sold through the ISoldIt retail outlets (thus the "seller" of the auction is not really the owner of the PS3's). I saw one of these near me and checked it out one day. Basically they charge you a fee to list your item for you, then they handle the listing, pictures, etc. This one didn't sell - so in addition to paying whatever ebay fees there were to list it, the real seller paid an addtional premium for the "services" of I Sold It .

I think alot of people would use their tax return money to pick one up if this were the case .

Releasing near the Christmas holiday sucks IMO , I have gifts to buy for others .
I can't afford it , and it's way too expensive to ask for , as a gift for me .

This goes for any brand console .
