EB's display copy box says the game is one price but it rings up for more

I was in EB today and they still had ESPN Final Round Golf for GBA for $2.99 (the display box had a $2.99 price sticker on it). I take it to the register and the cashier gets a sealed one from the glass case and says the total is $10.59.

I asked how that could be since I thought the game was supposed to be $2.99 and he said the game is ringing up for $9.99 now.

I didn't feel like aruging with him because it wasn't that important and I really don't like arguing unless I have to but if a game is tagged a certain price but scans for a different price don't they have to honor the tagged price?

This also happened to me a few months ago when they had Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets for Gamecube. It was tagged $9.99 but rang up $29.99 and the worker said that the price went up and $29.99 is the price.
 
Yep. Just about every state has that law on the books... some states like michigan even give you a premium for that. In Michigan, if an items is mismarked, the have to give you the item for the price it is marked, and 10 time the difference, up to five dollars.

Look up the Michigan scanning law... I know it exists because I had to ring it up years ago back when I worked retail.

This happened to me at gamestop, I had to get the game with the sticker on it though. I would go back they cant really argue I mean it says 2.99!
 
i was just at an eb two days ago and that happened to me. i wasn't going to argue or anything but the manager insisted i get it for that price. he even gave me an extra dollar off i think. next time just ask, it can't hurt.
 
Yeah i've had the happen myself, but then I never got turned away like that, I mean most places know if its tagged a certain price then tough luck if it rings up as more.
 
Had that happen at work today. Display price was $5 less than the price that rang up. Adjusted it and sent the lady on her way. Some people are more concerned with customer service than others, I suppose.
 
Had this happen with Panzer Dragoon Saga of all games. Stickered at $39.99 and rang up at $49.99. A big wig was in the area and made sure the clerk gave me the stickered price. This was at Meijer where they have games behind glass, so of course they knew I didn't/couldn't alter the sticker.
 
Had this happen while visiting work to pick up an item/get my schedule yesterday. Some guy was trading in a NFL Street, which had a trade-in value of $22 on a trade-in sheet that one of my coworkers was passing around to every sap in the store (like 2 people). Guy trades it in, it's only $16. My manager is right there, and what does he do? Only gives him the $16. FALSE ADVERTISING RIGHT THERE. I was pretty disappointed in him....
 
it's kind of a bad situation for me, if it is displayed for less but rings up for more i want the display price, but if it's displayed and rings up less i'd want the ring up price and if they give me the opposite either way i get upset =(
 
I was at eb and I picked up ncaa 2k3 for xbox since it had a $2.99 sticker on it. It rang up as $24.99 but I told him to look at the sticker price and he looked at it to make sure it didn't look like someone put it on there then he gave it to me for that price.
 
wow, the complete opposite always happens to me. The price tag says one thing, and at the checkout its like 5 dollars cheaper. always makes me happy. :)

At our EB down here in Homestead, if it rings differently like that they just give us the displayed price with no problems.
