EDIT (unfortunately): EB Games/Gamestop Trade Two Get One PS3/Wii

I walked into an EB in Northern VA today and they said that they are having a special for Wii and PS3 where you can trade 2 used games and get a new game of your choice (up to 49.99 for Wii, 59.99 for PS3) for free... AND (according to the clerk) you get the credit value for the games you've just traded in. Seems a little too good to be true for me, so I'm calling the manager when he gets in at 4 PM to verify this, but otherwise at EB trade-in rates this could amount to trade in 2 used games and get one whole new game and like 85-90% of the purchase price of another new game. Again, seems WAY too good for GS/EB but here's to hoping!

EDIT: Whatever seems too good to be true probably is. This is the same as the Gamerush/Blockbuster deal where you get no credit but you do get the new game. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, the manger said the clerk was mistaken.

It is true! That is 2 PS3/Wii games for 1 new PS3/Wii game. Wow, I really feel this is a good deal. For them!!! How does this amount to one new game and 85-90% of another? That would be trade 2 get 2 free..almost.

Sounds like a GameRush trade-in deal. So I'm doubting the "plus the credit value" part. I already eBayed the Wii games I wanted to part with, so I hope it's not true.

If you can trade in Wii Play and need remotes it's a great deal. 2x Wii Play would be $100. Keep the remotes and trade the 2 Wii Play's in for a $50 game. I guess it's YMMV on them accepting 2 of the same game though

My guess is they'll be getting lots of Wii Play and Wii Sports traded in but not much else. Sucks that it's not 2 for 1 plus the credit, but I kinda figured they wouldn't actually include the credit. If I had heard that I would've run home and immediately brought in a bunch of games to trade. No way in hell I would've waited for the manager on that.

^I actually have a feeling that Wii Sports is on GS/EBs exclusion list. Since everyone who purchases a Wii would already own Wii Sports. There wouldn't be any demand for Wii Sports in the used market.

Good point.:applause:

Call me crazy, but I still want to hold onto my Wii Sports. It's actually a pretty fun collection of mini sports game, and it's been an effective demo of what the Wii can do amongst my family members.

I got Super Swing Golf for $15 at a pawn shop a while back. If I had another Wii game I wanted to part with, I'd probably jump on the deal.

for those interested, ssx blur comes out next week for wii, so that could be a good new game to pick up in exchange for 2 crappy wii games. i've been tempted to dump off monkey ball and rayman since the first day i played them, but i don't know yet.

I saw the poster in my local shop and the fine print states that it does not work with Wii Sports Wii Play or other "demo's."

No. Pretty much just Wii Play and Wii Sports. Wii Sports comes with the console, and people are pretty much just buying Wii Play for the remote and trading the game in to GameStop. They pretty much want to avoid getting flooded with tons of copies of Wii Play.
Is Rampage excluded? Because that game can be obtained dirt cheap.
I used Rampage last night with Madden and got Sonic.

Why the hell would you want to get rid of Wii sports?

Undoubtedly the perfect game for noobs and friends and family.
which Northern VA location? I live in fairfax.
Are you coming to the DC meetup at Dave and Busters?

Also, funny how no one is talking about PS3 games with the deal.
is it interchangable, such as two wii for a new ps3 or vice versa, because that'd be awesome for me.
No. Two PS3 games for a PS3 game and two Wii games for a Wii game.

Wait. Rampage dirt cheap? Explain.
Not that I want to play the game, but I haven't played my copy of Madden in months (not enough time to invest into a full franchise), so trading those in for Sonic or SSX or something (Godfather? Heatseeker? Who knows?) would be awesome.

aw. way to ruin my fun. even though for the amount the two wii games i'd trade in i could get a PS3 game anyway. haha
