Expensive to get surround sound for PS2?

I've been using surround sound for my PC for years. My current setup only cost about $50 and I'm very satisfied with it. How come surround sound for the TV is so expensive???

Is there anyway to get a decent surround sound system going for the PS2 for under $80??? Is there a way for me to hook my PC speakers up to my TV?

I've had at least 5.1 surround set up for as long as I've had my PS2, and I'd say it really isn't worth the effort.

That said, I'd go further and say no to both of your questions. Surround for < $80, if it exists, would not be worth your time, and if there were a way to connect your PC speakers directly to your TV your TV would not output in more than Stereo so you wouldn't get surround out of those speakers.
